Personally, I'm hoping that the changes to psykers in 7th will make the psyker battle squad / wyrdvane psykers actually useful.

Is there anything in the new psyker system that will help a brotherhood of psykers?

Apparently all Psyker units received a huge nerf. If you have a warlock council and one of the warlocks gets denied stealth then none of the other warlock can cast stealth either so don't get your hopes up on good things for Brotherhood of Psykers.

Brotherhood psykers cast spells as one model rather than a unit. Warlocks are ICs that form a unit. So they are very different.

What about the telepathy psyker in command squads. The primaris power is pretty decent and it no longer has poor leadership to its disadvantage.

Well it seems like they are going after psykers pretty hard this edition. More i hear about psykers the more i feel like they have been neutered like assault armies were in 6th. Only reason to take warlocks now is to add one to a guardian squad. Just a little upset that a 55 point warlock can be shut down because his buddy tried to cast a power and got denied or in some cases 9 55 point models get shutdown because one guy got denied.

How many of those dudes can you take in one squad? Because combine a few of those with some plasmaguns jumping out of a borrowed Land Raider (which apparently is a thing now), and you can cause a good deal of damage.

The telepathy ones are limited to one per command squad. So you are somewhat limited unless you go unbound.

And I am pretty sure the rules are wrong there, it must mean if the psyker gets denied its power it cant cast anymore powers that turn, rather than that power cant be cast anymore.

Nope. Apparently if a power gets denied no other psyker in the unit can cast that power for the rest of that psychic phase.

Yea that makes sense. So groups of individual psykers IN THE SAME UNIT cant, but if they are in separate units they can.

Which is how it should be I think.

The astropath is a loose cannon, in a good way. ATM, he's got access to powerful telepathy powers, but only at ld 7. He's fine, a great last-minute defense for your warlord by using psychic shriek.

Primaris Psyker seems decent at ld 9, and with a force weapon.

But wyrdvane psykers are ld 8, and have nothing else, just laspistol and ccw. Just Mastery Lvl 1. But even biomancy powers are useless on them, they have WS2 and S2. They cost more than the primaris, are less reliable to cast and are utterly useless.

It doesn't really make sense though. Why would one individual not be able to manifest the same power that another individual got denied? It's like if me and you were in a squad together and my gun got jammed and you not being able to shoot the same model of gun as I was holding.

Ld doesnt effect casting powers now? Only need 4+ per power level of the power. Which to me makes the lower Ld psykers better.

And it does, the enemy psyker stopped the power going through and since they are all next to each other it effects them all together. However the psyker way over there isnt in the area of nullification. So he can still cats it.

Plus if the chart is anything to go by, Imperial guard arent limited and can powers from any charts in book. It all depends on how the change the unit entry.

I see it as the Warp denied access to that power. It's like the bank is closed and no one gets access until It decides to open (maybe next turn).

I wonder how this will work fr Zoanthropes...they add dice to the number of Warpblasts for # of Zoanthropes in the unit, and I was under the impression these are all cast at the same time.

The benefit I see for Wyrdvanes is that if you peril, most results will cause you to lose only one model from the squad, leaving the rest of the unit to try again next turn.

Well when you have to model them yourselves as GW won't actually make a model for them and spend so long making the conversions actually look good I feel like I have the right to be a little upset.
