So I'll be facing a guard player on the weekend, I know he has 2 leman russes, a vendetta/Valkyrie, a sentinel. They have several heavy weapon teams as well.
This is my list, how do you think it will hold up?
Hive tyrant, hive commander, wings, 2 heavy venom cannons, thorax electro grubs
Death leaper
Tervigon(troops) cluster spines, thorax electro bugs, miasma cannon
3 tyranid warriors, 3 venom cannons
30 termagaunt a, 30 devoured
3 hive guard, Impaler cannons
3 shrikes, venom cannons
Harpy, heavy venom cannon
Harpy, heavy venom cannon

Thanks in advance

I don't think you can run two cannons on a MC (except Harpys, who twin link...)...

Also, you can only have one venom cannon per group of warriors. Unless you're trying to say you have 3 broods.

It says you can replace scything talons with a cannon, I have two pairs of scything talons

so one venom cannon, what replacement weapons?

It also says on p93 in the notes section

1. One per model. A model cannot have both a stranglethorn cannon and a heavy venom cannon.

You could use deathspitters for your warriors which is common (Str 5 is nice)

K but I'm not using strangle thorn and heavy venom cannon, just 2 heavy venom cannons. If I'm still wrong please suggest a replacement

Sometimes it's preference, but I mostly go with the Barbed Strangler, (Str 4, Ap 5, Lg Blast, Pinning) mostly because I like large blasts and they do well against weak infantry. The venom cannon is okay I suppose but St 6 Ap 4? I feel isn't enough and isn't reliable to consider as anti-tank.

The Heavy Venom Cannon however is a different issue, still a small blast but Str 9 isn't bad to have around so I suppose it works for your harpies. I prefer the Hive Crones vector strike ability at Str 8 Ap 3 and it's worked really well against Storm Talons and also insta-killed some crisis suits for me so definitely a good option to consider.

Check the weapons list, there is a * next to the heavy cannons.. (TL Brain Leeches has no *, thats why they get spammed.. )

You can add CC Bioweapons, or upgrade to Deathspitters. You can also add Glands, and Flesh Hooks "per Brood"....?

Well I don't know what figs you have, but as noted you can only run one Heavy Cannon on the Winged Tyrant, so how about LW?BS? it should be the same cost? Warrior Brood: x3, x2 Deathspitters, Cannon 110 is a solid build. 30 Devilgaunts is a heck of a lot, you might be happier if you build Broods as 1/2 to 2/3 Vanilla, or Spinegaunt, and fill in the rest with Devils. That way you can remove cheap models as casualtys.

Shrikes are just Warriors with Wings, so 1 Cannon per. I usually consider Rending Claws a reasonable upgrade. Against AM/IG Deathspitters are extra tasty because of the "AP5" you pick up...

I always suggest dropping Hive Guard, and putting Zoeys. They provide durable Synapse, give a roll on Powers of the Hive Mind!, and have a Warp Blast/Lance. And they are 5 points cheaper...

You look to be weak vs Fliers, so maybe put a 10 upgrade on the Harpies to get some more shooting? Right now all you have is Vector Strikes..

Had the game today, his list consisted of lots of vets with auto cannons and Grenade launchers, 2 leman russes, a manticore, bastion, aegis line, and two command squads and a hydra).
Table deployment allowed me to get range with my Zoanthroapes (perfect position due to seize) and blow one up, hive guard killed a command squad venom cannons + devourers on warriors killed a vet squad, tervigon spawned 14 gaunts turn 1 and 2 , casted fnp on tyrant for first turn(he rolled adaptive biology) second turn just used it for large squad of gaunts. Tyrant made second leman russ(couldn't reach manticore) bs 0 and the venom cannoned the a side sponson off. He then manticore and killed all my throapes and death leaper. Both quad guns and hydra fired at tyrant took off 2 wounds stayed in air. Second turn tyrant flew in screeched 3 squads, harpies swooped in fired venom cannons and finished off troops so he gave up.
VIP unit is undecided because of tyrants cost.
So thanks for all the help, I had a good game
