Isn't unexpected isn't it ?

A lot was said about rules, who leak first and generate debate, but fluff has its own book now...
Some bits were added into the timeline. Mostly Orks and Necron related.
Example:
Spoiler:

-
Orks loot a Tau ship those Tau were really proud of.
Don't underestimate Orks..

Imperial Knights integrated into the fluff and the Warzones too. But nothing beyond the already known.

Anyone found something nice for his/her Army or just generally ?
Even with a "immobile" setting, that is.

Anything on the Sisters? It made me happy just to see them make an appearance in the Forces of the Imperium pic that was previewed the other day, but I'd like to know if they get any more than the usual couple of paragraphs at the end of the Imperium section.

Ha. Beat me to it.

Not a big presence, but they're there!

40k was a setting, not a timeline.

Good, good...

What about the Lost and the Damned? They got an entry in 6th (the Enemy Within)... Something in 7th?
How much stuff about the Sisters in the Rulebook?
How much about the Mechanicus?

The frozen time is business as usual and, for many players, welcomed. As others said, it is not a story, it is a setting for us to write our own stories. I don´t want them to finish mine by advancing the timeline. Consider it a canvas for us to draw in. You are asking for them to finish the paint while you look.

‘Your warriors will stand down and withdraw, Curze. That is an order, not a request. (…) When this campaign is won, you and I will have words’

How many times do we have to tell you crazy kids? It's a setting! xD

Gotta love how the fluff keeps expanding backwards and sideways, it's just a really interesting way of running things.. Most other hobbies have it as 'this is what happened, end of', but I personally like the open-ended 40k Fluff

More Necrons sounds exciting, I'll be picking up my copy son enough.

big time line advancements can be disruptive and unwelcome. It's part of why I pay less attention to Battletech these days

I think GW would do better if with new rules updates they started to move the timeline forward instead of constantly inserting there new shinies into exciting fluff, that said I do understand it's a setting just saddens me that it is. And a huge opportunity is missed.

The Ecclesiarchy got some pages, the Sisters a single line there. ( military arm of the ministorum. )
Vandire isn't mentioned at all, the foundation of the sisterhood not part of this book.
Ordo Herreticus ties to the SoB are there but again just a one liner somewhere in a textbox.

Sisters not well represented ?
Maybe it is because the Background book is mostly about the general background and specific armies have to look into their own codices and supplements and datacrates and ...

The SoB get two pages like many other. A Pic and a page of text. Only a few major players have 3 or more pages dedicated to them.
So yes they are not ignored.

( the pic pamphlet grants 1 pic and a place in the background of a assembled imperials pic. YAY. )

Am happy with the "big freezer" we got.
The missed opportunity is: they give up on our creativity.
Currently 7th ed books provide information about who ever has a codex, a supplement, etc. So bad Luck if you are not a Cadian or Catachan but IG.
Your army isn't Ultramarines, has no dex of its own? Being AdeptusAstartes doens't grant you fluff then..
The worst offender in my eyes is the third book of this new release. A Hardback WH/vision, pretty pics and "please buy our most recent box" clad as
"hobby".. I may just put it into our local paper-recycling..

GW turned the tables. Its their "creativity" protected ( names ) and their "Hobby" collecting our money. Very sad.

Dark Eldar have more timeline stories than regular Eldar, if I recall, and only one of them end badly for them.

To add to the SoB thing, their text description is exactly the same as in 6th whilst their picture is thankfully their 6th codex one rather than the Blanche Sister. So, on the whole, bit lazy, really,

Don't have the books btw. Zion posted a pic of the SoB fluff page on his website, Talk Wargaming.
