Now that Tyranids can ally with every faction in the game, which one would best complement their zergy melee prowess? I've never had to consider it before so this requires thought...

Given that tyranid shooting sucks, bring some IG for long range tank shootin' - in the last edition i did a 2v2 just like that and it was stupid broken because of the crazy shootin power firing over a wall of crazy fleshy melee monsters. Couldnt deal with the guns without dealing with the big bugs first, and it was the guns killing me more because i couldnt reach them.

Long range shooting yes. Depends on your meta, mine was full of vehicles before. I could handle with Zoans and charging Tyrants, since neither are good options for this purpose any more and I don't usually run melee fex's I'm going for front line Nids with backfield *something*. Think I'll model them with stealer heads.....

I played IG with a 'Nid player, we tabled two Grey Knight armies, we wore them down under the weight of IG firepower and Tyranid masses before finishing them with MCs. Worked well.

Cool! And IG/ AM genestealer cult is nice and fluffy. 
I would also be very temped to run Chaos Marines as Hybrids. I'd just HQ a Telepathy Sorcerer.
