Slight change to the way Leadership is used I've noticed, and just want to check I'm not missing anything or getting it wrong.

I'll use the Astra Militarum Priest as an example with his "War Hymns" Special Rule.
Basically he's required to take a leadership test to use this ability.

Now in the previous edition, if you had several different Leadership values in a unit you'd test on the highest.

Now there's been a subtle change in the wording of Leadership Tests ("Leadership Tests" - General Principles p374 iBook - sorry don't have other page numbers).
"If a unit has to take a Leadership test and it includes models with different Leadership values, always use the highest Leadership from among them."
All other times it refers to a model, not a unit.

In the case of the Priest taking a Leadership test for his Hymns, it's a model taking the test, not the unit. So he would always have to test on his own Leadership even if a higher value was present in the unit. The unit isn't taking the test, so that rule doesn't apply.

Any thoughts, or have I missed something?

Well p166 states ICs become part of the unit for all game purposes, so i'd say strictly speaking it's not the Priest anymore that takes the Ld test, but the unit he's a part of.
But i agree it's a bit unclear

That logic doesn't really work when it comes to individual special rules.
An IC with Furious Charge joining a unit doesn't mean the unit now has it. Only that model.

Same with a Priest, only he can use the ability, it calls for that model to take a Leadership Test.
And models are no longer able to use a higher Leadership, only units can.
