Am I the only one who finds it weird that for example, Ahriman a ML 4 psycher is no better at casting than a ML 1 random imperial psycher?

I am very frustrated and confused by such a change...

He is in a sense as he now buffs your dice pool so its more dice to throw at something you want, if he is not needing to cast his full set of spells every turn he also end up making the ones you need that much better.

But hey I dont mind perils so far its treated me fine, as long ad the 4+ streak continues.

Blood for the bloo... wait no, I meant for Sanguinius!

Technically, higher mastery level had no impact on your ability to cast. That was all on leadership.

Yes you are right that they do buff the dice pool.

I think the point I was trying to make is that 40k represents higher skilled characters with better rolls (WS, BS, T etc).

And for a long time psychic powers were through LD and all the higher level MLs had high leadership so had a higher success rate.

With the new phase this is all out the window and a regular librarian has the same chance to cast as tigerias himself...

I don't like how its represented and seems totally unfluffly...

You are correct and i have replied above. I was using it as an example and worded it wrong.

Thanks for the reply

While it would be a great concept even a 3+ boost to say far seers/ Tiberius etc. it'd make it too easy to cast powers if you get what I'm saying. But I would recommend it for level 4 psykers.

A level 1 Psyker manages to master one single power by focusing all his attention on that one power. So he can cast that one spell just as well as a level 4 psyker could. The level 4 psyker manages to keep the presence of mind to keep 4 times as many powers in his head and roll them around simultanously. It's like he's crossing his beams... 4 times.

A mastery level 4 Psyker generally has more powers which means 1a) he is more likely to get the powers he wants 1b) he can get a vast array of different powers and 2) he can cast many more powers during a psychic phase than a level 1 can.

I'd say he's already far more powerful than a level 1.
