I've had a trouser tent for Infinity for a while now, but my level of painting and general lack of gaming time (or making excuses not to play) has put me off.

But the thread started by Xerics over in Dakka Discussion sparked some good debate, and I noticed there's a few more threads from new starters here recently.

To address my painting slump I've gone back to basics and watched a few basic tutorials online. I've also ordered some WNS7 brushes and will be using a wet palette.

To address gaming, I've got hold of the QS rules from BoW, scenery from Deadzone, two 40k Armies and two (technically 4) Dz factions to proxy and I've just bought 4 D20s. No excuses now.

I suppose I could learn on my own, right? I mean just to get the basics down. I intend to buy two faction starters in the next couple of weeks, when I have a bit more confidence with the brush.

TL;DR Hello, I'm starting Infinity.

edited for sense!

You could learn on your own, but I see plenty of UK flags in post around here that tells me you could find someone to teach you.

As for painting I feel you lol, I fell back on doing Hassassin because they were 100x easier to paint up then my Tohaa models.

Also welcome to Infinity

Well glad you're making the jump in!

Any questions that pop up about rules or painting, this forum is a pretty good resource, so ask away!

Thank you Chaps! It certainly seems to be a solid community (here and over at their site), and the enthusiasm is off the charts. No moaning about crappy models or busted rules. I've not even started and it feels like a breath of fresh air!

You are right. I'm local to the North West Gaming Centre which doesn't mean much to you guys, but DarkJim mentioned getting some games in there with a decent crowd on his thread in the Infinity section. They have a game store annexed there too, so it's all looking up

If NWGC is your local i think some of them arrange games over here http://www.conf-federation.org.uk/forum/index.php If you've already looked on the official forum i think there were some threads with people on that side of the pennines looking for games. Its much easier learning from someone who already has a decent grasp of the rules than trying to pick it up from scratch.

The NWGC site doesn't seem to be around anymore, so I can't access any official forums but this looks promising.

Cheers bantha!
