Do you have take units that could be allied, or is it just balls out insanity? Could I say, take Tyranids with Orks or Eldar with Dark Eldar?

If so, that makes my transition from barely formed tyranid army to Orks much easier. Just field them side by side

I do believe you can still only have one of SCs, anything else is legal is unbound.

Alright then, sweet.

I plan to make a kind of "Dogs of War" army, if you remember those for WHFB, basically a bunch of mercenaries. Orks, Kroot, Renegade IG, some CSM, maybe a few Eldar, some Tyranids as "War Hound" (Keep 'em locked up till battle, then release them apon your enemies), maybe even a knight.

I still think you're only allowed to have 1 primary detachment and 1 allied detachment.

Units with restrictive rules still apply them- you can't have a Necron Royal Court without an Overlord for example.

Also, CtA on the ally table must deploy at least 12" from one another.

PS
From a fluff standpoint, drop the Nids.

I'm keeping them, but only because I already have the models sitting about.

Just so you know, Termagaunts and Hormagaunts are so expendable the hive mind doesn't even bother giving them digestive tracts- if they don't do their job by dying to the enemy's fire they'll starve to death anyway.

Yeah, I'm aware of that. No clue why they'd be in a band of mercenaries. Also, I thought nothing got a digestive tract, not just gaunts.
Basically, I'll be damned if I dont find some way to continue my Tyranids

Unbound doesnt have a FOC sooo you can take anything at all... all HQ's etc etc, but only 1 of each named character and other 1 per army limited things eg. army relics

aside from that as someone said, your wallet is the limit, second only to the points being played

CSM 20,000 Pts
Daemons 4,000 (ish)
WoC over 10,000
6000+ Pts

You can even do that in Battle-Forged.

I have a peanut allergy. It's really inconsiderate.

"Long ago in a distant land, I, M'kar, the shape-shifting Master of Chaos, unleashed an unspeakable evil! But a foolish Grey Knight warrior wielding a magic sword stepped forth to oppose me. Before the final blow was struck, I tore open a portal in space and flung him into the Warp, where my evil is law! Now the fool seeks to return to real-space, and undo the evil that is Chaos!"

Units from different factions still apply to the allies matrix, so you cant do things like stick a space marine captain in a brood of gaunts, but other than that, you can pick and choose anything from anywhere.
