No, and after the change to D weapons in 7e, nothing currently stops Resurrection Protocol and Ever-Living. The only thing that can stop them is if the model can't be placed after they pass the roll.

The only thing that might stop Ever-living, other than the model not being placed is Sweeping Advance. But we really don't need a 20+ page thread of:

It does. It doesn't. It does. It doesn't. Repeat ad infinitum.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

Dying to sweeping advance should still leave behind an EL counter.

6,000pts (over 5,000 painted to various degrees, rest are still on the sprues)

There is nothing that I know of which says you cannot. The only thing mentioned with instant death in the BRB is Feel No Pain. Also, the necrons do no avoid instant death, they die and corm back after death. So you can say they avoid permanent death. Lol

So the Instant Death rule is the only reference.

That was with their old codex.
The new one removed that restriction.

No, and Yes. It is nonsensical to ask about "tournament approval", as there is no 40k governing body deciding rules for all 40k tournaments. Its up to the TO

It is, however, fairly clear in tyheir codex that nothing in RP gives a gak about Instant Death, so you have to get your friend to find a rule stating that RP cares about it. In the absence of this rule, you dont care.

It's how their book works. You get RP vs Instant Death. Your local tournament would have to overrule the necron codex for it to not be "tournament approved"
