I'm having a hell of a time trying to get my Lil bros ork army traded, every time I get a good offer it gets shot down because my mom said that the person ships first, mind you I'm trading this army for an 11 year old, he wants space marines, I'm starting to run out of ideas/ways to explain to people that this is my mom's rules, not mine, we don't wanna see him get cheated.

That can be tough. You'll find that most trading sites require the person with the least trading history to ship first.

Alternatives for you might be ebay or talking to a local game store about posting it for trade on their bulletin board. You might be able to swap at the same time.

Unfortunately the internet is full of liars and people have gotten burned before from believing peoples sob stories. You'll just need to trade by the rules or find another way to raise the cash.

Another idea would be to find a trusted 3rd party to act as a liaison for this trade. You would need someone that the other trading party trusted enough to send their miniatures to first, and once they were in hand and the trade confirmed by the third party you could send your brother's Orks.

That is a major pain in the butt for all involved, and if I was offered those terms I'd want to make sure the offer I was receiving was worth the added hassle. Still, it is an option!

I'd be willing to BUY an army under those terms, but your mom's terms raise instant red flags with me. I don't trade with ANYONE unless we ship simultaneously. Any 'you-ship-first' caveat reads as 'I'm-going-to-rob-you' to my eyes.

That being said, purchases are different animals entirely. If you're BUYING an army online, the buyer should of course pay before shipping. To that end, feel free to PM me with pics and/or a price!

Don't bother trying to come up with ideas because nobody cares. Look at it from my perspective as a potential buyer: why do I care whose rule it is? All that matters is that the rule exists. Either accept that you're going to have a very limited number of people who are willing to accept your terms, or convince her to change the rule.

i like Dakka for many reasons and one of those is because I trust its trade community.

I am normally willing to ship first on Dakka trades, sometimes I ask the other guy, then send anyway when I hear he has sent.

Never been burnt. If you are still worried sell your orks to someone with both a fairly high post count, who has an joining date back well over a year, pref more and a good trade rep. Even if they are not honest, they would in all likelihood want to keep their Dakka rep more than they want a free ork army.

Bartertown is great, Most people here that trade also have accounts there. Best 2 sites for wargaming trading I know of is here and bartertown.

This is the heart of the matter.

We all feel bad for you, but shipping first to an unknown party is just not gonna happen for the vast majority of people

Truth is.....all of our moms make the other party ship first.

If you and other party are both unsure you can always ship in installments.
