Would it be sexy? Would i be able to buy "assless and crotchless" versions of the armour. Serious question.

I would only by if it was flak armor so i can wave my shovel like the commander i converted to have a shovel as opposed to a sword. Automatically Appended Next Post: Still good idea, i would love flak armor, and wanted to make some myself.

I don't have a great amount of money to spend on things like this. But I'd buy Replica Helmets/weapons. I also think Flakk Armor would be awesome EDIT: 900!

kronk wrote:I have a PVC stormtrooper costume that I got years ago (the white one, below). I would pay cash moneys for a decent Space Marine costume, so long as the price is right. So you met Peter Mayhew too? Also, I'd be interested in the price in the future if I ever have a large amount of money to kill, you'd have better luck on cosplayer sites, but there's no harm keeping a branch of your influence here. As for the costumes, I'd imagine Space Marines, Tau, Imperial Guard (Death Korps, Cadian, Storm Troopers, Scions, Commissars, etc), Chaos Space Marines, Eldar, and Dark Eldar costumes selling well. As for ease of production, Imperial Guardsmen, Eldar, and Dark Eldar would probably be fairly easy to make and affordable. Just thinking about 3D modeling if you're using programs instead of going handmade, the lack of complexity would be friendly to such a route. I'd definitely use one though if it wasn't too expensive and looked good. Klerych wrote:I'd definetely order something if the price was right. Although I don't think anyone would want to sell anything for a price that's acceptable in Poland. Yay for weak currency! But yeah, as long as it's something cool and it's well done, I'd probably get something. Not really interested in Space Marine armour sets as those come meh 90% of times(you can't keep the proportions if the wearing person isn't a deformed bodybuilder), but I'd love some small stuff like IG guardsmen flak armour/helmet or Kasrkin gear. Hell, even the carapace armour of Tempestus Scions would be awesome. I'd also love some equipment replicas, most notably the new power fist design from Tempestus Scions kit with visible servos - it looks fantastic. So a set of Scion gear would be great, especially if combined with a backpack and, say, NERF Longstrike gun painted and converted into hotshot lasgun. Space Marine costumes are "easy" to make properly proportioned so they're fluffy. It takes a lot of resources to make, but typically the majority of the calves are just stilts, and the arms are actually extensions, with you either strapping them on or holding onto metal bars or levers to open and close the hands. This is an example of a quality costume. I've seen videos on it- the legs are largely stilts, and his arms end somewhere around the elbows. It increases your height to around seven feet or so, I forget. Still though, it's huge and it looks good, the problem is that to make something like it requires metal working for safety.

Yeah I saw that Blood Angel.. Pretty well built indeed! I want to stay away from the 'foam armor' look...
Iron Jack... I actually do take commissions ... Would love one-off's.. I just figure I have a fair bit of manufacturing experience so I could do a main standard armor line I can pump out for a relatively affordable price, and then for those who want something specific... LET ME KNOW!!
YES YOU! The person who saw my site and likes my style and wants to request a commission now!
You can see some of my past work at www.unorthodoxdesign.com
Wyzilla... This will definitely be 3D modeling-based for parts... I have access to a CNC, 3D Printer, and laser cutter so the details and larger forms (while requiring a lot of hand finishing) will be CNC milled to maintain crisp details and good form accuracy/symmetry.
I'm actually half way done a servo gauntlet that will be scalable based on your personal hand dimensions.. FITS LIKE A GLOOVEEE!!
That same approach of modularity would go for the female armor connoisseurs... Interchangeable plates, extra expansion slots in the armor to let out or tuck where needed.. all about ergonomics
Automatically Appended Next Post: BTW.. No offense at all meant to foam sheet armorers... It's just a hard material to make look...hard

To give some of us an idea here, how expensive would a full suit of Cadian flak armour cost? And would it include the tunic/clothing portion as well? A suit of Scion armour? Tau/(dark) Eldar? Some ballpark estimates would be helpful in deciding the all important "is the price right" question.

Good point Blade,
I don't want to give exact prices yet because I haven't priced it out completely yet.. I'm thinking high hundreds (sub $1000) for the fully enclosed power suit, maybe in the mid hundreds range for a scion armor set, and low hundreds for guard flack armor. This would most likely include the raw (unpainted) armor plates, as well as some cast detail parts. (No soft cloth components as these can be locally sourced and are not my specialty)
One thing I'll say when I talk about the armor, if anyone is familiar with vacuforming (especially stormtrooper type armor) , I don't intend on making one-piece chest plate armor with rounded details and panel lines. I'm planning on doing a multilayer approach with overlay pieces and inset details that hide the fact it's made from thin plastic (i.e. a back and front of a shoulder pad so it looks 1" thick as opposed to a thin edged form that shows the fact it's thin plastic). In addition I can offer custom sculpted pieces of other details such sergeant/specialist marks etc.

I don't know, I'm not sure I would personally want a set of armor. But, accessories would be awesome. I wouldn't mind having a Space Marine helmet of Storm Shield on my wall. I would love replica weapons, though. Bolters, lasguns, power swords, Necron Warscythes, oh my!

There is one armor I haven't seen done well yet and that is Chaos Lord!
I'd settle for "Reign of Chaos" Chaos Commander Armor, since it takes out stilts and such for the arms and legs, but to go full-scale Chaos? I'd sell my -cough-soul-cough- for it... can it be one I bought from someone else? The soul I mean, not the armor. The armor I want. This guys soul just tastes funny to me now. >D

The thing with Imperial armour is that it is made in forge worlds, in massive job lots. The templates used are ancient, and have not been changed for millennia.
So, for a proper squad, every item should be identical.
This is against the DIY idea.
So, if you could come up with the base plates for costumes, and made them customisable, it'd probably cover everyone's needs.
Since it sounds as that's what the OP is getting at.

tau is the mathematical term of one full rotation in radians (a circle) which is also equal to, 2pi. Kingdom for empire
Tau Empire = 2pi kingdom
space is a vacuum, a marine is a soldier.
Space Marine = Vacuum Soldier
Just some really bad puns .
