A fellow Dakkanaut asked me for some pictures of my kitbashed Krypteks and Destroyer Lord, figured I might as well put them up in public.

I upgraded 1 Destroyer to a Destroyer Lord and made 5 Crypteks out of the bodies of 5 Necron Warriors, leftovers from the Lychguard/Praetorians kit (assembled them as S&B Lychguard), a single spear+palm from a WHFB model that came from a Citadel paint set and an arm swap with a Finecrap Necron Lord to give one of them a different looking staff of light.

The painting on these guys is both some of my earliest work as well as a fair bit rushed, so I included Illuminor Szeras, a model I painted a fair bit later and at a more leisurely pace, to prove that I'm capable of painting models to a far less atrocious standard.

I consider the paint job on these guys incomplete and intend to give them some proper attention somewhere down the line when I find the time, but they are complete as far as the modeling goes so they serve to show off the kitbashing itself (which is the whole point ). Added one of my two Finecrap Crypteks to serve as a reference point as to why I like mine better.

You're welcome!

Szeras is indeed an awesome model, too bad it only comes in finecast...

I'll also take this opportunity to give a glowing review of the new "Blood for the Blood God" technical color- it works perfectly, required only a single coat over the plain white of the spine to produce the "bloody bone" effect and retains its "wet" appearance over time. It was so quick and easy to use I almost ended up buying a whole bunch of Flayed Ones off of ebay just to have something else to use it on...

The centre of a massive brood chamber, heaving and pulsating.

The metal needs a wash, that's pretty much the only thing wrong with them (also they need attention to the bases.

Still, looking good!

Shred City.

You need to ink the models, layer them, highlight them, base them. Lots of work needs doing, friend. You already know that, though.

I like the converting, though, which was the point of the thread. Nice.

I'll be trying that too then! I have this things for flayed ones. I guess nobody really likes them but the idea of these half crazed, skin-wearing ghouls is just too cool not to field in a list.

Love the conversion work.

I was thinking of converting crypteks for my army, and this thread has given some ideas
