So, I'm running a Kickstarter campaign for my game, Mechadrome, and I'm trying to get the word out all over the internets. I've been posting on The Miniatures Page, Tabletop Gaming News, and the BOLS Gamewire. For forums here of course, plus others like tmp, cmon, frothers, lead adventure, heresy online, board game geek, beasts of war and warseer.

Just wondering if anyone happens to know of any other good gaming news websites or forums that don't frown on posting Kickstarter links? I don't want to come off looking like a spammer, but I want to be able to get the word out to as many as I can Most of my google-fu just brings up video game sites, and I don't think any of them will be appropriate for a table top game. Any ideas?

You could try a twitter campaign and stuff like that as well. Have you contacted the guys over at D6G as well?

No Twitter here.. or facebook or any other "social media" .. personally not a fan. I'm old so I use forums instead Been thinking about Twitter though but I haven't even tried it yet.

I did email D6G though a little while ago, never heard back :( But I guess it wouldn't hurt to try again

That is a big mistake. You need to have a dedicated social media campaign, You are using Kickstarter which is in itself a sort of social thing. You need your fans/backers singing your praises to masses. Get on the FB and the Twitter like now.

I agree it's a good tool but personally I've just never been a fan. I don't think I'd really be into Facebook (i hates it), but I might look into Twitter. But still, even if I set up an account today I don't think it would do much for the current campaign... I wouldn't have any followers to follow me and find out about it, and any new followers that follow me would probably already know about it

Penny Arcade sometimes promotes ttg kickstarters. You might scout their forums.

Btw, I'd follow a Facebook and Twitter account. Think of them as a different type of forum- one where you don't click on links to read stories, but they come to you.

What do you hate more - Facebook or not selling product and lost funding for your KS. You don't need a personal page with friends, pictures of your food and requests to play Farmville. I would suggest a FB page for your business that shows off models, keeps people updated on the KS and company offerings. I don't use FB to tell others what I'm doing, I use it to follow games, companies, authors, bands, etc. that I'm interested in. I've made at least three gaming purchases that I learned about through FB that I didn't see anywhere else.

I guess it couldn't hurt .. I had a personal facebook page a while back and got annoyed with high school classmates from 20 years ago that I barely remembered filling up my wall with pictures of their ugly kids and pets I guess it's not as bad now. I do have a google+ account, but I don't really use it.. does anyone?

I'll look into Penny Arcade too

Here you go...

But yeah, it's worth repeating. Even on Kickstarter, you're still asking people for to invest in your business. - Read the Raging Heroes kickstarter thread here, don't do what they're doing when it comes to communication.

No problems communicating.. just not on social media.. I spend most of my boring day job posting on dakka and other places. So I'll be posting comments and updates on the KS page all the time. I guess if I like a FB or Twitter account, folks will get an update there when I post on the KS page? I was thinking about doing Instagram too, but more for sharing pictures of models.. right now I don't have too many pictures of models to share, since they're still being made

I think you would usually have to either link to your update, or post it again on twitter or Facebook to share it. Anyone who has liked your page or followed you will see it in their feed.
