The IK is a vehicle, you do not wound vehicles.
the Grav guns have a different effect on vehicles. Check the Weapons section of the BRB for more details.

Grav-gun inflicts an immobilized result and 1 HP. As a super-heavy walker, an IK would ignore the immobilized result. Therefor, grav-guns would do a single HP damage for each 6 rolled.

I see it as, they ignore the immobilized effect on the vehicle damage chart, but the gravgun would still immobilize it

The rules for super-heavies say they ignore Immobilized results. Doesn't specify the need to roll on the table for it to be ignored. They just can't be immobilized. 1 HP is all you get.

They ignore the effect, but they don't?
No, it ignores the immobilised result, so just one hull point
