does a battle forged scoring unit grab the relic away from an unbound unit that holds it?

The unbound unit might still carry it, and you would have to kill the model carrying it to pick it up yourself. But... a unit with Objective secured close enough to the relic (no matter who is carrying it) would score the points for it at the end of the game.

I'm not so sure of this. Is there any rules to back this up?

Objective secured rule means that you can't be contested for an objective except from another objective secured unit.

The relic does not function like an emplaced objective. It's either dropped or picked up; the only time objective secured would come into play is if the relic was dropped with an enemy unit nearby.

How are you applying this with what is tantamount to a capture the flag ruleset for this? Objective secured is for objective contesting and as one model can carry at a time, how then are you contesting?

Because it no longer has the same rules as 6th, and can now be contested.

Has the wording changed in 7th or has it been omitted?

Changed. It is now controlled like any objective, except it can be moved.

Wow. And it can be contested while held? Wanna be sure as I am playing this mission later today

Page 147 "primary objective" talks about controlling being his you score VPs. There are no further rules that alter this

Indeed, it was interesting to see that one change because it was the only thing preventing the Relic doing some very strange things....

8th made it so I can no longer sway Tau onto the side of Chaos, but they will eventually turn aside from their idea of the Greater Good to embrace the Greatest of pleasures.

Okay so to clarify, I can contest an objective my opponents model is physically carrying as long as I am within the inch range correct?

Yes, that is exactly what the rule, in its current form, results in
