Hola!

Currently painting up an Ork horde in anticipation of the upcoming codex. I'd very much like a handful of weirdboyz to take advantage of the new powers, but I don't really care much for the model. Does anybody have any suggestions for alternatives ?

Cheers

Phil

Convert your own?

Wierd-boys aren't very hard to kit-bash or convert, the main thing is just making them look crazy. I saw a good and very simple conversion yesterday where someone just had a wierdboy holding an Ork skull (the one on the boyz sprue) with glowing eyes. I'd probably try and use a savage orc body as a base myself.

Alternatively you could just grab a fantasy orc shaman of some variety.

Yeah, it's just an ork with no normal weapons (except maybe a staff, although currently that's only for looks) and...er...a psychic look on his face, which practically speaking means quite a few of the shouty/screamy heads would work.

One interesting option would be to use Savage Orcs, for a quick 'loony running around in a loincloth' look.

But to be honest i wouldn't build anything yet - we may be getting new models, and as yet we don't know what wargear and other options a weirdboy will have in the new codex, e.g. the staff may do something.

Here's mine, few Kanz bits, i wanted him to have a junk-yard aesthetic, as if he'd been madly rummaging about in a Weirdboy daze.

I picked up the plastic Savage Orc Shaman to convert into a Weirdboy.

I shaved off all his clothing and accessories, and I'm working on a weapon swap. Can't think of anything scarier/orkier than a naked green bodybuilder gorilla-man running around with a big stick.

Potentially two big sticks, since I haven't yet decided whether it would be cool, funny, or just crass to greenstuff him some WYSIWYG anatomy.
