Next is Battle Report 2, with pictures. I changed my style a bit since I was writing this with more of a gap (this was a week and a night ago), but I think I give a good accounting. And it has (not great) pictures.

Deployment My opponent gets first go. I have played a few games against this guy, and his army is usually the best looking one in the store. This army is mostly unpainted because he is sticking LEDs everywhere. Under shoulders, in weapons, heads, basically everywhere. Hence the 'tail' on one of those Griffons. Similarly, some of them are in a state of disrepair, because they are about to receive the blessing of light. Once this army is done though....damn. It will be glorious. Anyway, he's a good bloke and (in my opinion) a really good player. I haven't managed to beat him (or even come close) before, but I had a good feeling about this game (probably because of the wonderfully painted Storm-quest proxy that I used, which actually belongs to my opponent).
Turn 1a A smattering of focus from Vyros goes to the Pheonix and the Griffons, with the last two getting focus from the Arcanists
Running up basically everything, Synergy goes up
Turn 1b Kovnik Joe gives the Winter Guard Infantry Tough and Fearless
Winter Guard Infantry run up into the left zone (my zone)
Irusk puts Superiority on the Conquest, Iron Flesh on the Winter Guard Infantry and he walks up a bit
Conquest advances, pings a few off the Pheonix's shield with a scatter from the main gun, and puts some covering fire out.
Iron Fank Kovnik advances and gives Shield March to the Iron Fang Pikemen
Iron Fang Pikemen advance in shield wall and Iron Zeal
Kell takes two shots at the Destor Thane, doing 1 point of damage twice with sniper
Beast 09 runs up
End of Turn 1 photo. Sorry for the blur in this picture. I am still getting the hang of this whole 'pictures' thing. I'll pay more attention next time.
Turn 2a Upkeeps Synergy, casts Deflection and hands out some focus
eEiryss aims, doesn't take damage from covering fire (POW 6, really? I wish I had an actual Stormwall...) and knocks Iron Flesh off the Winter Guard Infantry
The Griffon on left flank gets 2 focus, spends 1 for speed boost, 1 to charge and smashes a Winter Guardsman
The Invictors advance, killing two Winter Guardsmen and leaving one knocked down after a passed tough check
The Pheonix advances, kills another and lights one on fire
The Griffon kills another, adding up to 5 dead Winter Guard Infantry, 1 knocked down and 1 on fire
Turn 2b This is when my opponent realises that he has 1 less Griffon than he should, but he doesn't choose to put one on, instead he just rolls with what he has.
Beast gets 3 Focus, the Conquest gets none
Kell does 1 to the Destor Thane (3 so far)
Beast 09 charges and nearly drops the Pheonix
Conquest shoots, critically devastates Vyros (6,6 to hit), doing 5 damage to him, killing an arcanist with the blast and killing an Invictor with the thrown Vyros
Kovnik Joe gives the Winter Guard tough and fearless again
Winter Guard advance and try and spray Eiryss as well as put a few points on the Griffons nearby, but fail
Irusk advances some, feats, and puts the last bit of damage on the Pheonix with an Arcane-Secret-ed Grind
Iron Fang Kovnik gives the Iron Fang Pikemen shield march
Iron Fang Pikemen advance in shield wall, plinking some damage off the Griffons ahead of them
End of Turn 2 picture
Turn 3a Griffons kill 1 Winter Guard, knock down one who was outside of feat range, and kill 3 Iron Fang Pikemen between them, putting some damage on Beast 09 as well
eEiryss disrupts Beast 09
The Invictors charge into Beast 09 with flank, and my opponent rolls atrociously. He does a bit of damage to columns 1 and 2, and knocks out 3 and 4, but that's all. I got off very lucky there.
Turn 3b 2 focus to Conquest, upkeeping Superiority
Beast 09 threshers and kills 5 Invictors
Conquest advances into the zone, boosts to hit Vyros, and gets a critical devastation on a double 6 for the second turn in a row. This throws Vyros and
eEiryss back, boosting damage on Vyros for another 6 damage, but only doing 4 to the damnable Eiryss
Irusk puts blood lust on the Iron Fang Pikemen
Iron Fang Kovnik Shield marches the Pikemen again, and they advance up and kill one griffon, badly damaging 2 more.
The Winter Guard, in an effort to clear some Invictors, manage to kill one of their fellows instead
Kell does another 2 damage to the Destor Thane (bit by bit)
Joe gives the Winter Guard tough and fearless again. The perceptive of you may begin to discern a pattern here.
End of Turn 3 picture
Turn 4a Synergy upkept, Deceleration back out
Destor Thane murders two Iron Fang Pikemen
eEiryss drops Superiority off the Conquest
The Griffons kill 3 Iron Fangs and a Winter Guardsman between them
The invictors kill Beast 09, one Iron Fang and the Winter Guard officer
Turn 4b Irusk puts Superiority back on the Conquest, giving it 3 Focus as well
The Conquest goes to town, with me clean forgetting that he now has +2
MAT. Which means I would have hit more than the once that I did. Ah well, 16 damage in 1 hit to a Griffon, not bad for one hit
Winter Guard kill 1 Invictor
Kell snipes 1 Invictor
The Iron Fang Kovnik advances into contact with the Thane (couldn't charge over the wall), doesn't put him down
End of Turn 4 picture
Turn 5a He damages the Conquest a decent amount, taking out the entire right side between Invictors and Griffons on the Synergy train
He also puts down 1 Winter Guard with a Griffon prior to the Conquest, and two Iron Fang Pikemen to get the train up to speed before the assault on the Conquest
The Destor Thane murders the Iron Fang Kovnik
eEiryss pulls Superiority off the Conquest again
Turn 5b Irusk puts 3 Focus on the Conquest, as well as Superiority (again)
Kell kills 2 Invictors engaging the Conquest
The Conquest kills 2 Griffons (I remembered the +2
MAT this time, hooray)
Irusk and Joe combine to kill the Griffon in my zone, and I dominate for 1
CP End of Turn 5 Picture. This is part way through his turn 6, the Destor Thane should actually be back on his side of the table from Kell, but apart from that it is pretty much spot on.
Turn 6a eEiryss plinks one wound off Irusk
Destor Thane takes a free strike from Kell that misses, and misses his shot against Irusk
Vyros advances and hits Irusk with one shot, taking over half of his health off. His second shot drops my caster like a sack of potatoes. Alas, poor Irusk, I knew him well. Ok, not well enough to keep him out of that situation, but hey.
End of Game Picture
Post Game Dammit I was so close I think. So, so close. Yet I am still yet to defeat this player, which is a real shame, because I really thought I had a handle on this game. If I hadn't forgotten the
MAT bonus from supremacy I think I would have wrecked a Griffon that turn with 3 focus (or maybe 2 Griffons), and this would have meant I didn't charge Irusk in as I did. But such is life. I came close, played (I think) a decent game by and large, and had a great time.
Things I learned 1) Dammit Irusk, you did that last game as well. Why would you do that twice in a row? What, you blame me for moving you there? Just because you aren't actually capable of bipedal locomotion doesn't mean that you are excused from placing yourself there. But seriously, I need to get a handle on his placement better.
2) The Conquest can both take, and dish out, punishment. I need something to get boxes back though, if I could have repaired that arm I wouldn't have needed to put Irusk up there. I'm thinking a Gobber Tinker, he's 1 point, helps hide Irusk more, and helps me repair. Seems like a good fit, at least theoretically.
3) Get a better handle on when to Iron Zeal. I think I popped it way too early this game, I got scared of the Invictors with their snipe mini feat, and CRAing shield wall'd Iron Fangs into a fine red mist. If I had saved it, he may not have been able to get through them as quickly. Or they may have died anyway. Either way, I think it was too early.
Battle 2; Khador vs Shae's 'A Pirates Life' Tier 4
First off, I have to apologize. I am a lot patchier with images this game, as well as details, as my opponent this time was a funny guy, and we were talking and joking an awful lot. This meant that I ended up forgetting half the pictures. I got some, but not many. Sorry in advance.

Turn 1a
Everyone runs up, sea dogs opposite my
IFP, and Press Gangers opposite my Winter Guard Infantry, Shae and his battlegroup central and Dirty Meg and her posse on my left.
Image from end of his Turn 1, also showing my deployment
Turn 1b
My Iron Fangs advanced on the right, with Shield March from the Kovnik and popped Iron Zeal
Irusk advances, kills 1 Press Ganger with Airbust, feats and casts Inhospitable Ground
Winter Guard advance with Bob and Weave
Conquest kills one each of the Sea Dogs and Press Gangers
Kell kills another Sea Dog
Boomies run up to jam, going for 4+ tough
End of Turn 1 image
Turn 2a
Sea Dogs end 2 of the Boomhowlers
Shae chipps in for another dead Boomhowler, putting up Storm Rager as well
The Press Gangers kill a fourth Boomhowler
Turn 2b
My Conquest is moving too slowly. He tries for a shot on Shae, misses and scatters away
Between the Boomhowlers and Winter Guard Infantry, all but 3 Press Gangers die
The Boomhowlers, who got Battle Lust, almost wreck a nomad in addition to the damage dealt to the Press Gangers, and sing for 4+ Tough
The Iron Fang Pikemen get Shield March again, advancing and engaging some of the Sea Dogs, only killing 1
Kell forces some more Tough checks on Sea Dogs
End of Turn 2 Image
Sorry, no picture this turn. Pikemen advanced into the Sea Dogs, Boomhowlers jammed some more and Winter Guard advanced more.
Turn 3a
Shae kills both Boomhowler and Valachev
The Sea Dogs kill one Boomhowler and two Iron Fang Pikemen
A Nomad kills a Boomhowler as well
Turn 3b
Winter Guard Infantry get boosted attack rolls and try and hit Shae, but fail.
Conquest tries to hit Shae, fails.
Iron Fang Pikemen charge over and try and hit Shae, also failing.
I sit there, completely and utterly unaware of Shae's treat range. Hell, I am probably in the threat range of someone like Irusk, let alone a Shae.
End of Turn 3 Image
Turn 4a
The Nomads besides Shae clear away the Boomhowlers and Iron Fang Pikemen in front of him
The Sea Dogs advance and attack the Iron Fang Kovnik, putting him in the dirt
Shae charges in and kills Irusk. Damn.
End of Turn 4 Image
Sorry, I forgot this one because we were all packing up to leave, but it's almost the same, just minus a few Iron Fangs, Boomhowlers, the Kovnik and, oh, another model, I forget...oh yeah. Minus an Irusk. Dammit.
Things that I learned over these games;
1 - Irusk is not a god damn finisher. I made the same mistake last week. If I make the same mistake next week, reach through your screen and slap me. Please. It just might help.
2 - I learnt this one in game 2. Treat Irusk as a 4
FOC caster turn 1, and get Superiority out. Do it. Don't get tempted into an airburst on close pirates, don't get tempted into this or that, just get Superiority out. Just. Do. It.
3 - Learn when to feat and iron zeal. I think that, both games, I used Iron Zeal far too early and while I'm unsure on the first game, on the second game I definitely should have popped my feat a turn or 2 later.
