So, I haven't played against Eldar since the old Eye of Terror campaign years ago. Since then, the metas for both forces of Chaos and CW Eldar have changed drastically. I'm wondering, what weaknesses can I capitalize on against them, and what strengths do I need to be wary of?

I play both Chaos Daemons, and Chaos Space Marines.

I do know a few tricks; things like Wraithknights really don't like Balesword Daemon Princes, Fiends and other Slaaneshi units can really shine against this particular army, and Distort weapons can RUIN my day.

What else should I know?

Inside Yvraine

Eldar's pseudo-rending makes them extremely proficient against "elite" units, the word elite in this case referring to units that are expensive and come in small squad sizes that rely on their toughness to survive. This means units such as monstrous creatures, nurgle bikes, obliterators and spawn might not be the best choice against them. FMC's and dakka MC's (like flying Lords of Change) are a bit of an exception because they're hard to hit.

Eldar suck at assault. The Wraithknight is the only Eldar unit you'll regularly see on the battlefield that can pack a wallup in close-combat. Even the vaunted seer-council can dish out decent power, but can't take it in CC.

Eldar suck at handling threats coming from multiple directions. Because their units are so fragile, Eldar rely on their maneuverability and combined arms to focus down your most threatening units one at a time. If you have multiple dangerous units pushing up the field simultaneously, it's difficult for Eldar to handle them all simultaneously. For that reason, as a Chaos player I enjoy mass deep-striking units and throwing FMC's and other fast units at them. Both Khorne Hounds and Seekers are *great* against Eldar, because you can take them in a horde and they're extremely fast, which is a nightmare for Eldar to deal with.

The most important thing to remember about Eldar is that their speed is their #1 most potent attribute. It's the one thing that makes them a top-tier, tournament winning army. Eldar, especially in the case of their jetbikes, are EXTREMELY fast, and playing the objective game with them can be very difficult for us Chaos players. Eldar can't do slugfests with you, so take advantage of that by nabbing map control with units that he won't want to tangle with, and box in his fast units so they can't make late-game objective grabs.

That's pretty much what I've got for advice. This is based off of my own experiences; I'm not a super competitive player- I've never been to a GT and I can't tell you how to beat a Seer Council. But hopefully my advice will be helpful for you.

Csm have just one unit that's effective vs eldar. Lord/Sorc + nurgle spawns.

I take offense to that!

Eldar are pretty good at melee combat; they are good at throwing punches and going first, but they rarely do damage and can't take a punch to save their lives. Wraith units are OK due to their beast statline, but still not great. Our dedicated assault units are pretty garbage.

Deamonetts are quite deadly against just about anything eldar, as they go before most space elves and rend aspect warriors, wraiths and armor all the same. Demons also negate the pseudo-rending BlaxicanX mentioned, as a 5++ does not give a damn about your AP.

MC's are usually easy to drop due to pseudorending, but once your in melee your going to turn eldar into paste.

Eldar will also have a ton of S6 shooting. Most of their heavy AT is either S10, melta, lance or haywire so heavy armor is probably not your best bed.
