Hi folks, just finished writing up my long tournament report for the Bugeater GT. It was 2500 points with 5 games. Lots of fun.
Here's the link to the report on my blog.
Feel free to comment here or on my blog!

Nice job, bummer about not topping but your spirit during your games is amazing.

Awesome reports (took me a day to get through it all), great job pulling it out the bag with the last battle after that start. Shame about your shooting and magic. Next time I'm sure the dice gods will favour you to balance it out.

Just read the first one so far- good stuff. Unfortunately, my (admittedly old) computer has an aneurysm trying to load that page, what with all the pictures (I'm guessing). Gonna try to let the rest load while I'm off doing something else, then come back and read through.
Thanks for writing it up!

Thanks for the report, that was a really enjoyable read! Painting scores are always pretty iffy, I think, so I'm glad that my local tournaments do an all-or-nothing system (i.e. 20pts for being fully painted or 0 for less than that) which avoids the issue. Your army did well, and despite the woe of so much Warriors of Cheese, I think that you brought the right tools to handle them. Thanks again for the read, and I hope that you do more WFB reports in the future.

Haha, thanks! What do you mean by "my spirit"? It was a fun tournament for sure

Thanks for reading! I felt like I rolled below average most of the weekend, but I feel like that's the nature of playing dice games. I haven't met someone who claims "I'm so lucky, I always roll above average", though it seems like I've met dozens of people who say they roll poorly consistently. Easy to blame bad luck I suppose

Sorry for including so many pictures and giving your computer a harder life, haha! Thanks for reading though, hope you enjoyed them

Yeah, I agree that painting scores are pretty subjective. I wish that major tournaments would give people access to their painting scoring cards so that they could at least have feedback. As it stands, I have no clue where I missed those two points. Ah well.
At any rate, thanks for the kind words - I feel like at this point I'm most qualified to play against Warriors of Chaos, having played against them 6 times in the past 11 games haha! Maybe it's just the natural Dark Elf strength against the things Warriors have, but I guess I don't really understand why so many people think they're so good. That isn't to say my games weren't tough, but I never felt like I had zero chance to win. /shrug

I well I think you mentioned it in one game, your dice didn't go your way, and then you had an entire unit vaporize under some nurgle spell, and yet you pressed on towards victory! Every turn was hard fought.

Gotcha! Thanks for that, I try to keep my spirits up and press on, even when it looks grim! Lucky this wasn't Warmachine, or the game would have been over and I wouldn't have had a chance to get any points at all haha

Dark Elves have access to a lot of the right tools, and especially so did your list. Many armies really struggle to handle so many fast, tough 1+ save units rushing at them, since they just can't stop it all in time. Orks and Goblins are their worst matchup, since they have so many lovely S6 attacks and whatnot.
Obviously I'm not trying to say that you didn't play well - I just wanted to comment that Warriors are a nightmare matchup for many armies (mine especially, hence my borderline hatred of them ) and to explain why you are seeing so many of them.

Great report- finally managed to make it through. Don't know how you find time for all the pics! When I take 'em, I tend to forget about it part way through. Well done and much appreciated. If I have one minor quibble, I'd say its with so much talk of the unfortunate dice. I absolutely recognize that it happens, and empathize. I also appreciate when you soldier through. At the same time, I personally don't find gripes about misfortune to make particularly good reading in a batrep. (And this probably makes me hypocritical too- I'm sure I do it in my own batreps). That one minor criticism aside, I'd very much look forward to more reports down the line! RZ P.S. Those have gotta be Devil's Claw seed pods on your display board for trees, no? Brilliant idea...

Thanks for the explanation on why they're tough! I didn't take your comment as me not playing well - I know that any "skill" I have at Fantasy is pretty limited, but you didn't sound like you were saying I got lucky or something
Interesting to find out what other armies fear/find difficult to deal with though - I don't know enough about the game to intuit those sorts of things, so I appreciate the insight

Thanks for reading, and I'm glad you enjoyed them!
Also, thanks for the feedback. I've been writing BatReps for a long time these days, and I have to say that I haven't had feedback on how my reports could be better in a long time. That isn't to say that it isn't warranted - I feel like we can always improve
I do have a reason for talking about dice in my reports, in that like it or not, dice are a big part of the game, and having to overcome them is extremely relevant to the context of the game itself. However, I should perhaps fixate a little less on the dice and tone down the "whining" about them, as I agree it can be tedious to listen to. Sometimes you need to hear it from someone else to understand it though, so thanks for the feedback

Firstly thanks for the full report- great.
Are the display boards mandatory?
There seems to me a lot of effort put into them compared to the usual here in Australia of no display board.

A lot of tournaments in the US Midwest and Texas (the only two regions I can speak to) provide additional painting points for well done display boards.
