I like to play Iron Hands, and recently I have gotten interested into their background and fluff. I was wondering if someone could please direct me to sources for their background, novels ect. From what I have gotten from skimming the horus heresy books is they had a lot to do with making Terminator armor and were/are in possesion of most of it and distributed it to the other marines? If this is accurate why don't they have more Terminator related rules?

For the same reason you don't see all your 40k marines running around with HH-era boltguns, MK4 armour and HH jetbikes, because it was all lost during the Heresy or the time afterwards.

Ah ok. That explains a lot. I have only recently gotten into the fluff of the game now that I am starting to get the rules down. Gotta love Iron Hands. They are the only chapter so awesome they don't need a unique character.

Aside from the fluff in the Space Marine codex, both the Clan Raukaan Space Marine supplement and the Iron Hands chapter in the Forgeworld Horus Heresy codex offer a ton of info about them. Also, if you haven't already checked it out, check out the lexicanum.

Ok thank you. Just got my physical copy of clan raukaan today. Hate reading on my phone and pc. might have to break down and get a reading tablet. I found a few novels I think I will try reading as well if I can get a hold of them.

Ignore everything written in Raukaan. It's a clumsy, awfully written retcon of so much of what was good about the Iron Hands. Check out the novel Wrath of Iron, along with the HH novels Fulgrim and Angel Exterminatus for more about the Iron Hands. Also, I'd track down Horus Heresy: Massacre, the Forgeworld book that has information on the Iron Hands legion.

Nah, Clan Raukaan was not that bad. It retconned some good parts of the Iron Hands (which you must ignore), but it also added a nice story, and expanded on the Iron Hand's inner conflict.
You should definitely check out Wrath of Iron. It is by far the best piece of Iron Hands fluff you will find.
Don't bother with the older Iron Hands e-book though, it is horrible.

It also turned the Iron Hands into complete donkey-caves given the Marines Malevolent a run for their money, coupled with Ferrus Manus either creating a Greater Daemon or having an aspect of him become one.

The other Iron Hands book is that the Black Library one titled Iron Hands? I heard GW has been retconning a lot of the iron hands stuff. Kind of disappointing, but I will have to learn to deal with it. I pretend half the time I am running an army T-2 Judgment Day Awnnold Terminators (T-800) anyway. Might have to put greenstuff leathers and some cheap sunglasses (ZZ Top ) on my bikes. I have already figured out that Iron Hands are the Red headed stepchild of GW, but I will overcome. Kind of think GW is missing some great opportunities with the Iron Hands as far as development, promotion, and storyline goes. The more reading I do on the Iron Hands the more I realize they just don't fit with the standard marines. I think with proper attention the Iron hands could easily outstrip the Ultramarines in popularity. I will be picking up wrath of Iron. I think a friend has a copy of the heresy stuff. Reading Clan Raukaan now. Thank You everyone who is helping me find this stuff. There doesn't seem to be a lot on Iron Hands, and In my opinion they deserve there own independent codex. They are just too unique for standard marines imo.

Yeah, GW is poorly marketing them. After discovering what they really act like and funciton in the Deathwatch shorty story collection, as a transhumanist I'm fascinated with them. Just that there doesn't appear to be a lot of decent fluff on them.

I liked the short story "Riven". It gives some insight into the way the Iron Hands reacted to the Drop Site Massacre.
I wasn't a fan of how they were characterized in Fulgrim, but Angel Exterminatus was an improvement.
I've had the impression that the modern chapter's lack of Terminator armor has been retconned. The new Raukaan supplement doesn't seem to mention the supposed lack. I don't really mind much though. It's not like terminator armor can no longer be manufactured, unlike dreadnoughts and such.
Iron Hands really came into their own since way-back-when. I remember 3rd edition--paying 5 pts for Bionics (the 3rd ed equivalent of FNP 6+) on my characters, buying termie armor for my sergeants, being giddy as all hell when we finally got our own Index Astartes article and that awful, awful novelization... man these days are better. It's good to be a son of Ferrus these days. Now when you ask for source material on the Iron Hands, you get answers!

I've read almost every HH novel to be released and I'll say that the two events most commonly mentioned are 1) The Dropsite Massacre and 2) the death of Ferrus Manus. Ferrus was one of the most unique primarchs and an overall badass, so I definitely applaud your choice of Legion. Definitely read Angel Exterminatus.

I agree Ferrus was a unique character. And you gotta love a guy with a thunder hammer, termie armor, and servo harness with a grav-gun (essentially). And then they go and kill him in such a crappy way. If I were ever to buy a forgeworld model it would be ferrus, but only if they made the model usable in 40k albiet not as ferrus. I am definitely gonna have to read all these books. It's nice that they are giving us some fluff and some solid, fairly competitive rules; but I wish the fluff was better written and not retconed. Why GW seems intent on killing IH's uniqueness is beyond me. Game wise I think we could use some unique characters to make some fun and fluffy changes to our armies. Heck we have plenty of choices from what I read so far in clan Raukaan we have 41 forgefathers most not named giving plenty of opportunity for some exciting things. But, that might be retcon too for all I know I really have to read that other stuff you guys mentioned. I have to agree with you on that after reading clan raukaan.
