I'm looking to get some masking tape to do my Iron warriors danger stripes. Could anyone recommend a type I can order online in the UK? This would be for shoulderpads.

Would this work? http://www.amazon.co.uk/ADORN-28721-Multi-Surface-Premium-Masking/dp/B00E96TYKI/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1402889485&sr=8-1&keywords=masking+tape+small

I use regular painters tape as it comes off easily. I'm in the US though, but on amazon UK you could get this. Also, it's very easy to cut with a pen knife.

I've used really bad quality electrical tape in the past, it's good because it doesn't have much stick to it so it won't strip the paint below it and I think it's a bit easier to cut it to shape. Test it first though!

You generally can't go wrong with Tamiya masking tape. It comes in various sizes with 6mm being the smallest size offered. If you need smaller tape, get a cutting mat with a grid pattern on it (to keep your tape in a straight line) and use a straight edge and a hobby knife to cut smaller strips out of it.

I've used el-cheapo masking tape, cut into strips. Makes good weapon slings as well.

Tamiya's masking tape is probably better for the job though.

Electrical tape is pretty handy - if you use quite a few layers stuck together to make it really thick, then cut it so it's straight on one edge, you can then stick it to your model and use it almost as a flexible ruler for engraving lines or starting cuts on curved surfaces.

When I airbrushed camo on my tank for the first time, I actually had a huge problem with the Tamiya tape being able to stick to the model after it was cut into shape. I actually ended up using regular masking tape from the convenience store. It was easy enough to cut into a pattern and came off just fine when I was done spraying. I bet the electrical tape is a brilliant idea though, and I also second the idea of using painter's tape, as it won't strip off any previous paint layers, if that is of concern to you.

Tamiya is good, if you want 100% assurance paint won't bleed under, seal the masking tape with some clear medium or varnish before painting your stripes

+1 for Tamiya. Comes in super thin widths to help mask off tiny areas (6mm)

If you need smaller than 6mm, you can get this stuff. It works well provided you can get it in the right place.

Yes, that is 0.4mm wide masking tape.

You probably want some 'low-tack' masking tape for general application, but of course regular painters tape would work also.

Automotive paint stores that sell airbrush supplies also often have masking supplies, often including frisket film and/or transfer tape that comes in 12-24" wide rolls. Other good product is liquid mask, you can spread it on with a brush and then cut with a knife to peel sections off.

Use either Tamiya tape, Low-tac masking tape (its usually blue) or masking frisk.

Hobbycraft carries these in the UK. The low-tac tape will be available at good hardware stores.

Normal masking tape can and will pull off paint below. It's less of a problem on top of a primer (which will be harder) but on a basecoat (especially a fresh one) it can pull the paint off with it.

Money spent on Tamiya is money well spent for peace of mind.
