Okay, I don't get to play 40k that often ( once every other month) and to complicate things, I like to play and build lesser used armies (inquisition, LotD,sisters, etc) just to add some variety to the local meta)

I have not seen an update or FAQ for the inquisition ePub book yet, so if there is one please direct me to it or help me with my technology.

The INQ book states that you,can take 2 inquisitors as HQ and up to 3 elite choices of henchmen which count as scoring. Do these get the objective secured USR? If I add LotD which are also chosen as elites from an allied detachment, do they get objective secured? I'm assuming battle sisters get it as they are troop choices, everything else gets the other type of scoring.

Is there a way to get more henchmen without taking Coteaz and GK? I don't think I can ally with myself if I understand the rules right ( which I may not). Or should I just go unbound and play a full on inquisitor list. I would prefer to play battle forged, just because it makes more sense in my head. I was just getting the rules down and they went and changed the edition, before I was ready

Battle forged does not give anything OS.

Only way to get OS is to be a troops unit in a CAD or Allied detachment, or gargoyles in skyblight.

It is a older book, written when Elites needed specific permission to be scoring. The fact that Elites are now scoring by default doesn't make a difference, this Rule does nothing more then grant them the ability to do something they can already legally do. Unless the Authors specifically change the Rule to state it now causes Objective Scoring, it does not have gain that ability simply by also being a scoring related Rule. Also, even in situations where a Detachment has a Rule along the lines of 'all Elites gain the Objective Scored,' it is limited to just that Detachment and can not be evoked by other Units in the Army.

8th made it so I can no longer sway Tau onto the side of Chaos, but they will eventually turn aside from their idea of the Greater Good to embrace the Greatest of pleasures.

If you take Coteaz then those elites are now troops. That could make a difference. Just a thought...

In the name of the Emperor I will smite you with my Fu**, GW took that away too!

That would be Coteaz from Codex: Grey Knights.
Codex: Inquisition has different rules. It would be a very bad idea to make Elites into Troops in a detachment with no Troop slots...

sooooo, basically I have to play an unbound list to play inquisition , or I don't have to but there's no reason not to as I don't gain any advantages whatsoever for playing battle forged except I can reroll my warlord trait.

Well only if you make the Inquisition detachment the primary, which imo is not the best way to play Inquisition anyway. Why not take say a Adepta Sororitas Combined Arms Detachment as your Primary, and take an Inquisitorial Detachment of Inquisition? That makes full use of the new Battle Forged rules, especially since Sisters do MSU in Transports quite well. Then you can bring in some nasty stuff that the Sisters are lacking with the Inquisition detachment like Death Cult Assassins assaulting out of Land Raiders or Servitors with Plasma Cannons.

As Bandito has said: If you play pure Inquisition, then there is no bonus.

If you want to ally with any of your Battle Brothers, then having Space marines battleforged with Inquisition Unbound, means you have an unbound list, and your Space marines/ Ally cannot have Objective Secured either.

[Edited from next post] No bonus at all then :p

No the Inquisitor would not be able to re-roll his Warlord Trait.
That requires the "Ideal Mission Commander" command benefit.
Currently that is only available on a Combined Arms detachment. An Inquisition detachment does not have it.

Is the inquisition book really worth it now that gks are battle brothers? The only advantage are the artifacts and warlord traits, neither are worth much

Besides the scout book.

Then again you get a full CAD just by taking a inquisitor so id say its worth it.

So long as it isn't the warlord.

Except an Inquisition Detachment is NOT a Combined Arms Detachment.

Its only an "Inquisitorial Detachment" if taken as an ally.

And the other option is to take the exact same Inquisitorial detachment as a Primary.
Either way at no point is it ever a Combined Arms Detachment.

Combined Arms requires x1 HQ and x2 Troops minimum.
Not a good idea in a Codex with no troop options.

Though the Rule book is not hand atm it just requires the 1hq 2 troop choices for the regular force org. but If you take C:Inq as your primary, you use the inquisitorial detachment force org instead which is 1hq mandatory.

You literally could have an entire army of nothing but inquisitors. not that it would be any good .

That's called a "Combined Arms Detachment".
There are other types of Detachment available, such as "Allied" and "Inquisitorial".
Each have their own FOC, and their own rules.
Only CAD and Allied have the "Objective Secured" Command Benefit for example. An Iquisitorial Detachment does not.
but If you take C:Inq as your primary, you use the inquisitorial detachment force org instead which is 1hq mandatory.
Which is NOT a Combined Arms Detachment. That has a different FOC.

Yes you could.

Taking a C:Inq as a primary is still not a inquisitorial detachment but only uses the inquisitorial detachment force org in place of a standard force org.

It is a CAD that uses a different force org.

No.

Please read your brb, and note hat CAD is a specific organisation. Codex Inq does not use this, so it is NOT a CAD.

If the Inquisition detachment was a CAD, you would have to take HQ + 2 Troops.

C:Inquisition does not have troops, and therefore would be unbound anyway.

IE C:Inquisition is not a CAD
