I like purifiers a lot and want to make a competitive list with them and Crowe to take to tournaments outside my local shop. I'd also like a good excuse to buy and paint an Imperial Knight so here goes...

1 Castellan Crowe

5 Purifier Squad:
Psycannon x2
Halberd x1
Daemonhammer x1
Rhino

5 Purifier Squad:
Psycannon x2
Halberd x1
Daemonhammer x1
Rhino

5 Purifier Squad:
Psycannon x2
Halberd x1
Daemonhammer x1
Rhino

5 Purifier Squad:
Psycannon x2
Halberd x1
Daemonhammer x1
Rhino

1 Nemesis Dreadknight
Teleporter
Heavy Incinerator

1xNemesis Dreadknigh
Teleporter
Heavy Incinerator

Aegis Defense Line with Icarus Lascannon

Allies:

1 Knight Errant

I hope that in 1850 points this list presents some very scary threats. Each Purifier unit is a solid fearless unit with Objective Secure, Cleansing Flame and 2 Psycannons. The 2 Dreadknights and 1 Errant I think will work well together as a turn 2 threat that can't be ignored, leaving Purifiers open to do their damage.

Crowe is of course the weakest link. I'm hoping that he can get his points back on an Icuras Lascannon, and the Defense Line can help the Rhinos survive turn 1 if going second. Otherwise a vacant Rhino can come back to pick up Crowe if time allows. I think he may be an easy warlord kill most games but he might just be ignored.

Thoughts? Can anyone else think of a good way to use Crowe or just purifiers in 1850 pts?

I like the list. Quite a bit actually.

I don't think you need the Halberds, but you don't have a better use for the points. Knight and Dreadknights can put quite a bit of pressure. 8 Psycannon Snapshots on the move with Nova powers and 11+d6 you've got enough dice to toss out a significant offense.

I definitely like it.

Was wondering when someone would run a purifier list. And I am a fan. Crowe has always been a tough guy to find a place for.

I make bad decisions and think they are good.

I've been contemplating adding an IC buddy to Crowe to take advantage of his rules and the rules for majority weapon skill/toughness.

Pros
Enemies will swing against majority WS8
Enemies will swing against majority T4 (or potentially better)
Crowe can re-roll saves, giving a re-rollable 2+ armour or 4++ invulnerable.
Access to Hammerhand for the IC
Re-roll hits on charge (Titan's Herald)

Cons
Potentially an easy Slay the Warlord kill
Can be a lot of points, depending on the IC
Only 2 models
Can't figure out who to add...

Potential candidates for this 'Army of Two'
Xenos Inquisitor - Rad/Psycho grenades, Psyker ML1 w/Telepathy - 85pts
Hereticus Inquisitor - Inferno pistol, 2x Powerfist - 65 pts
Malleus Inquisitor - TDA, psycannon - 80pts

The Xenos Inq (combined with Crowe's trollface abilities) would be a very effective tarpit.
The Hereticus Inq could pop a tank or transport with 5 S6 AP2 WS4 attacks on the charge.
The Psycannon Inq in a Rhino will be shooting 4 S7 AP4 rending shots at BS4 on the move.

I also like the idea of taking two Daemonblades and hoping to roll a stabby weapon and a buffing weapon (for 30 pts total). But that would be quite random.

Thoughts?

Crowe can only re-roll saves in close combat if he chooses not to attack. Out in the open he's vulnerable and doesn't make a great tank with only T4, W2 and no EW. I like the idea of adding an IC to him though. I didn't think about that since you couldn't do it in 6th.

Of the choices you listed I like the Malleus Inquisitor the most simply because he has mobile ranged potential for the same cost as the Aegis Defense Line with Icarus Lascannon. I have to admit I have no idea what a TDA is since I've never played with Inquisitors.

I've also thought of taking a techmarine and bolstering the defense what whatever terrain I decide to hide Crowe in while the Techmarine rides in a Rhino near the Knight Errant to provide repairs late in the game or to give rad grenades to a unit.

Very true, Crowe is an easy kill point in the open. One Lascannon/Melta usually does the trick. He's nigh unkillable in melee though if the enemy doesn't have AP2, and pretty survivable if they don't have S8+.

TDA is shorthand for Terminator Armour, my apologies. Basically just a way to give the Inquisitor access to a Psycannon/S6 Hammer and Relentless to boot.

I know it's a potentially easy victory point, but I just feel so wasteful not using Crowe in an assaulting fashion. 150 points just to take purifiers as troops is a hefty price if he doesn't actually DO anything all game.

At 1850 I can see a list like this fitting:

Inquisitor joins Crowe in the raven for a late-game assault. Without him and the extra one man in each purifier squad it was at 1700 but I didn't know what to do with the last 150... Another purifier squad out it over by 35 :(

I also thought another Errant was better than 2 DKs.. Just my pref though.

HQ
Crowe
Inquisitor - power armor, rad & psychotroke grenades, grimoire, plasma syphon
*Note: the inquisitor from their own codex is what I picked here, it was 2 points cheaper lol!

Thanks for the input. I've decided to switch up the list a bit. Having Crowe sit on an Aegis Defense Line is indeed a huge waste of points so I've decided to get him into the fight a different way.

Crowe will ride up in the LRC and have a nice platform to assault from if the opportunity arises. While in the LRC he should be very well protected and it will add to the already saturated heavy threats on the board.

I considered a Stormraven but concluded that I need to have all my threats on the board applying pressure and dealing damage as soon as possible. There are too few units to allow my opponent to shoot them piece-meal.
