FudgeDumper - It could be that you are just so uncomfortable with the idea of your chapters primarch having his way with a docile tyranid spore cyst, that you must deny they have any feelings at all.

I had some Space Marines when I bought Assault on Black reach, but I never expanded them, I played with the Orks. After that I started collecting Chaos Marines up to this day.

I didn't for a long time, made an elysian drop-grots army so that don't count, but found a space marine army for dirt cheap about a year ago. 'til then it was necrons, orks and chaos. and nids.
...and tau...
.....and daemons....

basically every army but imperials and eldars come to think of it...

Tyranids, Chaos Marines, Tau, Eldar. I have considered Imperial Guard (mostly because of a love for Valkyries/Vendettas and Baneblades), but I've little passion for them as an army. I'll probably put together some IG (ex-Loyalist, of course - either full Traitor Guard or just mercenaries) just for fun, but I've got too much to do with my current armies.

I've been a xeno player for a very long time. I recentley got a army for another game but use the models to represent Squats for fun games using a space wolf codex but that's just about it

A Xenos player the entire time I been playing, always found the Xenos factions far more interesting both background and play style wise then any of the human ones. Though I would make a sister army in a heartbeat if they ever decided to update their models.

Krieg! What a hole...

Never used non Imperial forces, played 1 game with Blood Angels In fact, I've never played a non-human race/character in other games, save for an Earth Genasi in Nwn2 and the occasional ''try the faction''

Since RT I've had:
Space Marines
Chaos Marines
Eldar
Orks
Sisters of Battle

My favorite was the SOB.
I used to have a World Eater army until all the flavor was sucked out of the CSM dex.

Unfortunately GW agree with Ubisoft's nonsensical "making female characters is too hard", which is the given explanation as to why we don't have newer Sisters.

After reading some of the posts in this thread I have the following questions
For the pure xenos player, are SoB the Imperial Faction that appeals most?
And if so why?

For me it is the underdog feel to them and ironical, the sheer lack of support they get from GW. I got to admit I do like the way they play. Just downright stubborn.

I have craptons of SM models acquired over a 25 year span but I have never made them into an army.

I do kind of like the SoB and would like to do an army with them but I am unable to articulate why.

I'm writing a load of fiction. My latest story starts here... This is the index of all the stories...

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.

You tell me...

Xenos have always Appealed to me most because they seem unique compared to the majority of Imperial factions. Sisters of battle kind of fit this catagory as I never see them be played often and this gives them the feeling that they stand apart from the other Imperium Factions for this reason

While I'm a Xenos/Chaos player, I'll input to this. For Space Marines, I already have CSM. The Imperial Guard don't interest me, beyond liking some of their vehicles. Imperial Knights I wouldn't count as a faction, but even when I get a Knight it's going to be a Chaos one. Sisters are cool and unique. A big part of the appeal is probably their baroque aesthetic (part of why I love CSM, although we really don't get to see it in them as much as we should) and their righteous fury. I do love some righteous fury. Also, women are cool. There really aren't enough of those in 40k.

I started with xenos, and have to admit it was quite an uphill battle at times (started with Tau in 5th).

Eventually, I took the power armor plunge - and do still occasionally play various forms of marine (GK, DA, SM etc.).

While I enjoy the marines - my passion is still my xenos - but it does indeed help in games - know they enemy and all that.
