So I've been lurking a few forums, coming up with ideas and whatnot for a new army to build. Something unique and fun, even fluffy. Nothing truly competitive, but nothing incredibly horrible either.

I've settled on a few codexes for a few reasons.

Inquisition: I've always loved the Inquisition as a whole. The whole space church illuminati is great. I'm especially fond of the Ordo Malleus and Hereticus. I would rather not field any marines though, so no grey knights.
Sisters of Battle: I've always had a soft spot for the sisters. They, with the Imperial Guard, fit my passion for the underdog. The regular guys and girls against impossible odds. With their new Codex, they're only that much more appealing. One issue though: the models.
Militarum Tempestus: As with the Sisters, they're the guys that get **** done. I love the new Scion models and I'm not terribly insulted by the Taurox. I also love the whole deep strike tactic they have.

So it's entirely feasible to fit these all into a list and to be tactically viable, I'm sure. I'm in no way worried about what I want in the list. I know I want a few deep striking Meltaguns. A pair of Crusader/priest squads, and probably a Sisters core.

The issue is mainly with the models. Sisters don't have plastics and will likely not have plastics for some time. GW in their sexist ways have refused to give them anything other than a codex.

This led me to a pretty interesting idea, but one that I fear will be met with a bit of animosity. I would like to run Sisters counts-as, as a workaround for the lack of models. For a base I would probably use the Tempestus Scion models, armored up a bit more and with female heads. To differentiate the units, I'd model them appropriately. Dominions get hoods and cloaks to fit their outflanking/scout nature. Retributors get scopes and other gadgetry. Seraphim would get some manner of agile jump pack. I'd likely use the same vehicles though. Perhaps a whirlwind as the exorcist though.

Now I've asked my friends and they seem okay with it. If I put all of the work into it, why shouldn't I be able to? And if all units look different, it's not so bad, right?

What do you guys think of the idea?

First if you friends are ok with it - then its all good unless you are going to trournaments etc?

If they are done well - they could be pretty good conversions - although I do prefer the current models compared to the TS models.............

Well, I'd like to play in a store, but I don't plan on entering into any crazy tournaments. And I'd likely try to use all GW bits when possible.

And yeah, the models are great, but severely outdated. It'd be like using the old Ork trukk with the new models.

Well if your friends and local stores are ok with it then it should be ok.

If you dont mind waiting and are ok with non GW stuff dreamforge game is doing female pastic models in powerish armor.

Sounds like a cool project! I have been thinking about doing something similar myself, but using the female troopers which Deamforge will be releasing.

Um, I use the old trukks and have 97% new models orks in my army.

When I started orks, it was the omly trukk they had, and with ten of them, unless there is some sort of redemption program, there is no way that I am going to change out to all new trukks. I do have a couple of new trukks, but they will be my battlewagons due to size.

Armies: Space Marines, IG, Tyranids, Eldar, Necrons, Orks, Dark Eldar.

Well, there was a very vague hint of a sisters release in one or two other threads. It would be a pity if you did all that and they released plastic sisters.

But then again, it is still only vague speculations.

We've had vague rumors for forever though...

Do you feel I should wait?

Personally, I think you should absolutely go for it, full steam ahead.

If the Sisters release does materialise, you'll have a bunch of awesome models to use alongside any further expansions you may purchase. Its win/win!

Lets face it: If you give your Dominions hoods and your Battle Sisters helmets, they'll be more differentiated than the BSS and Dominions in 'official' GW armies.

Do you think that Scions would work for the base model? I know they're a tiny bit expensive seeing as how I'd need to buy QUITE a few of them...

Anyone think of a better GW alternative?

GW and cheap don't really go together unfortunately. If you do go the Scion route though(or any GW models for that matter) take a look at online stores, you can usually get a pretty good saving, and when buying a whole army, it soon adds up.

But yeah, if your friends are cool with it, then go ahead. It's all that matters really. Either that or try and score cheap metal sister models off ebay or something.

Would getting the female heads also significantly increase your cost? I was looking at having different females heads a while back but I couldn't find economical models at the numbers I'm considering. Before you start out, you might want to do some calculations. Perhaps there are more options and cheaper female heads these days. Another option is if you are a genius with green stuff and casting.

Although its nice to see one of the featured armies for the ongoing "War Diary" in White Dwarf is Sisters and the other Space Wolves..................

The rumor of Sisters in plastic is now... four years old? Five? Ten?

It's an old, old, old rumor is what I'm trying to say. At this point, I've grown tired of waiting for GW and have started collecting my Sisters from other manufacturers and other game-lines.

It is best to be a pessimist. You are usually right and, when you're wrong, you're pleasantly surprised.
