Not super competitive. Not super derp either.

Hive Fleet Gaia: 1850

HQ
Flyrant – TL Devourers x2

Elite
Hive Guardx3
Venomthrope

Troop
Termagants x30
Tervigon – Miasma Cannon/Desiccator Larvae

Fast Attack
Gargoyles x10
Gargoyles x10
Shrikes x6, Adrenal Glands, Dual Scything Talons

Heavy
Mawloc
Tyrannofex

Living Artillery Formation:
Biovore x3
Exocrine
Warrior Brood w/Barbed Strangler

Venomthrope goes with the Warriors from the formation to help them stay alive for scatter dice re-rolls.
Mawloc/Gargoyles/Shrikes reserved for mid/late game objectives/synapse.
Throw all sorts of nidtastic boogers down range with the rest.

From the battle reports that I've seen it's been best to play defensively the first couple of turns and let the enemy advance and then fight to satisfy the hunger that no snickers can touch. In theory, that is haha. I'm a horrible strategerist, I generally go for the models I love more so than the models that are good. Trying something semi-competitive here though. Suggestions and feedback welcome.

You look a little light on Synapse, so you might want to try to toss in some Zoeys, or a Warrior Brood or two...

You might think of making a big Brood of Gargoyles, and splitting out the Shrikes into two units, so you can spread out more Synapse that way.

If you consolidate into a x15 Brood of Gargoyles, you can afford to put Flesh hooks on the Shrikes, and that is a nice upgrade.

I'd lose the Miasma Cannon, and spend the points elsewhere, and use Electro-bugs for anti vehicle....I'd spend the 25 on Adrenal, and Thorax Hive on the Tyranofex. That way it puts a lot more pressure on the foe, and it makes your toughest unit the bullet magnet.

Ooh, I quite like those suggestions.

Do you suggest dropping the Tervigon? I'm not crazy about keeping her, but I'm also not crazy about filling in with squishy warriors.

Well...Tervigon is a bit overpriced for what it does, but it is durable Synapse, has two Powers of the Hive Mind! (Primarus, one roll) and is a MC...I always toss a Thorax Hive on for +10 points.... With a Terv in the backfield, you can take your Big Brood elsewhere, and depend on spawned Termigants to hold Objectives. Me? I seem to just love Outflanking Tervigons. Just spawn when you arrive for bubble wrap. The Thorax Hive usually has a target on arrival, and makes CC a hard task for the enemy.

I say...if you own one, use it. If you want to build a list without one, you'll need to add enough Troops to replace all it's functions though.

Late entry: Oh, and in the Living Artillery Formation, I suggest a Venom Cannon for the Warriors, I always use Strangle Cannons for the Pin, but the Formation gives pinning to Blasts, so VC makes best use of the special rule.

Was tight on points so I didn't go with Adrenal Glands on the Tyrannofex, but I may change that around to see how that plays out.
Thanks again!

I think that looks like a strong list. My only suggestion would be to trade out the hive guard for 2 venomthropes. The shrouded will really help everything else survive and make it across the board.

Besides that, looks good.

Ahhhhh man, I had that thought too. The Hive Guards are among my favorite units but I think you've got a great point.

Would you suggest splitting the venomthropes or zoanthropes?

Looks good. You have no Venos, but no list is perfect. If you find that you suffer too much from alpha strikes, then put a Brood in, and it should solve that issue. If you get a chance, I'd love to hear how it does. Take care...

Drop one Zoan so you can get a venom in there. The shrouded will help keep your assaulting force stay intact enough to do some serious damage. Other than that a solid list. I personally like the Barb more than the venom but thats just a personal choice. Happy gaming!!

I second this idea...If you can squeeze 10pts for hive commander on your Tyrant it's definitely useful to bring her on a flank, especially if there are any objective markers on the flanks...she is objective secured after all!

One thing really, unless you really like the hive guard, the zoeys are almost always better IMO. This is because a) they can take down tanks as well if not better (with the exception of psychic pilot) b) they bring synapse and c) they have lots of other useful abilities. In addition they can take out heavy infantry as well if necessary.
