Just got a set of these, have no intention of painting them gold, way too intense. Anyone tried painting them Black or Red, if so, how does it look?

I think it looks great; I did mine as Astorath's Reclusiarch Guard, basically mimicking his colour scheme. Red for the armour, fading black for the wings, gold for helmets and details. I'm afraid I don't have any pics, but it can certainly work in black and red.

The new Sick Man of Europe

I've seen drawings of Sanguinary guard in a alabaster white and I think it looks like a great scheme, though I haven't seen any similar miniatures yet.

Maybe a black oil wash over the top of the red would be cool. Be easy to clean up so the red still looks strong.
