I think if I ever had to choose one it'd be the entirety of the units present for The Charge of the Light Brigade in 25mm.

List:
4th and 13th Light Dragoons
17th Lancers
8th and 11th Hussars
4th Royal Irish Dragoon Guards
5th Dragoon Guards
6th Inniskilling Dragoons
Scots Greys

Shadowkeepers (4000 points)
3rd Company (3000 points)

The Crimean War is really interesting. What scale would you do?

Balance in pick up games? Two people, each with their own goals for the game, design half a board game on their own without knowing the layout of the board and hope it all works out. Good luck with that. The faster you can find like minded individuals who want the same things from the game as you, the better.

A proper Anglo-Saxon shield wall.
Interlocking shields and lots of men bunched at the front of the base and fewer behind.

I need to get better at green stuff so that I can fit more guys at the front and then this project is go.

I thought the war was only from about 1794 to 1815 [21 years] and didn't get very big until 1799.

You have the French Revolution in 1789 and the break-up of the Spanish-American Empire continued into the 1830s, so there is lots of scope. Not all strictly "Napoleonic" by the most accurate definition of course.

I'm thinking most people's [including those who produce and play historicals] idea of the Napoleonic wars would be a war that took place from 1799 to 1815 and was almost all in Europe with a little north Africa.

Gustavus Adolphus and a wing of cavalry then fight endless battles against Tilly his old foe.

Why ? A great excuse for some lovely terrain building and sweeping massed cavalry charges in bright brilliant colours

I'd like to have a 21st century British army with tanks and infantry in 40mm, all in resin.

I know it's not hard to source, but I want a set of opposed sides of Napoleonics in 15mm. Small scale for big battles and cheap(er) minis. I can't imagine finding a dedicated opponent in my area, so I need to be able to play games as both sides. Plus I think the era has some really rich and interesting history. The uniforms are beautiful, the minis will be easy to get together, and the strategy and tactics are simple enough but also subtly nuanced. This will happen some day, it'sjust a matter or the time and money to do it right.

French and Austrian or French and Russian.

Those three armies fought in a lot of battles if you want to follow historical campaigns.

French and British is also popular. The Peninsula Campaign offers good scope for historical and pseudo-historical battles.

However if you just want to go for the uniforms, it might be fun to do a couple of the smaller armies like Bavarian and Danish. It doesn't matter if they never fought each other unless you want to recreate specific campaigns.

See, I'm not really the biggest historical gamer, but if I was to get into something historical it would have to be on the naval or aircraft side of things rather than the individual man.

I'd love to have a Roman naval fleet. Ballistae and boarding ramps with a massive ship in the middle spearing things with harpoons. Maybe not my favorite historical period, but i'd enjoy collecting it simply because I don't know of any game that does that era and having one for it would be welcome.

I was also thinking besides Pyrhuss for Ancients, I always wanted a 20mm WW2 Italian army from Operation Compass representing the Maletti Group. This was an ad-hoc "mechanized" unit. It was made up of Libyan Askari troops with Italian officers.

Alternatively, I thought it would be fun to put together some models for the Italo-Turkic war just prior to WWI. I read a fun little article about the war in a History magazine and it sparked my interest ever since.

Lastly, I have put some thought into trying to game the Lakota War of 1862. This was a local conflict and has a lot of history in my area. I thought it would be a fun demo game at my local History Center. This one would be in 28mm since the numbers engaged in most battles were relatively small. I was particularly interested in the Battle of Birch Coulee.

Depending upon which direction my gaming group goes I'd either like to do something along the lines of:

1. 15mm North Africa WWII armies/campaign. Possible extend into Italy.

2. Ive always wanted to do a 25-28mm Greek (Spartan) or Macedonia army (Alexander and Companion Cavalry, phalanx, hoplites).

I have been meaning to make a 28mm Dal Riadan army for years but there always seems to be something else that I want to do first.
Dal Riada was the political precursor to the kingdom of Scotland formed by immigrants/invaders from Ulster to the west coast of Scotland during the 7th century.

Ramspeed.

A board game that can easily be adapted to tabletop.

Naumachiae.

Langton also does ship models in two scales.

There used to be a set of rules called "Periplous" which is OOP. There is another different set called Periplus which is an area movement card game. It might be adaptable to tabletop but sounds less suitable than the other two above.

I think I will just be happy to finish what I have.

I think getting my Normans up and going as well as finishing off my US Airborne would be sufficient.
