When using missiles, do you tend to get the TL and then wait a turn to fire them with focus, or do you generally shoot them the same turn you get the lock? Do most players use push the limit to do both and then recover next round?

Discussion can be both 'I tend to...' and 'It's best to...' I'm still pretty new and haven't played anyone but friends who don't own their own copy.

It's actually dependent the pilot skill of the ship with missiles.

If you have a higher pilot skill with missiles, enemy ships are more likely to be in range of you to target lock after you move, since they have moved first.

A lower skill ship will have to move first, and will often have enemies be well out of range to target lock. This is why I often have my low skill TIE Bombers fly very slowly to maximize the time I spend in long range.

This is what makes Deadeye, and the new Proton Rockets, very effective for low skill pilots.

If I'm firing a missile/torp, it's going to have some sort of boost. Predator, additional focus/TL, Jonus re-roll, Homing Missile, Blount, etc.

This looks like a good place to ask whether anyone is doing anything interesting with Flachette Torpedoes? If I'm reading it right, combined with Munitions Failsafe, you kind of want to miss and then you have a ship that basically shoots Stress tokens at the enemy every turn.

No, it says; "After you perform this attack, the defender receives 1 stress token if its hull.....yadda yadda".

Then rules as written for now. However they will probably errata that, so don't get used to it.

Also, if you think it's an iffy combo, then don't use it if you actually want people to agree to pay you.

We just realized this does work tonight too. It may be why it still only has three attack dice and uses your lock: so you cant get it to hit as much. With how important cloak actions are and the slight potential shift to higher PS units, this might be the balancing mechanic to keep low pilot skill ships in the game. Maybe a clue to build an 'Action Master' list built around denying your opponent actions while using Airen Cracken to boost your action count. So you roll in and muck up the board with your Head hunter swarm and force a crap ton of bumps, then pull out with the necessary target locks and fire at long range, hopefully repeat. Maybe this is one way the Rebel's swarm list is supposed to work? The other being Etahn A'baht With Cluster Missile happy Z-95's in tow.
