Is there anything restricting the use of the Helbrute formations presented in the dataslate? I.e in a normal game. In the dataslate it says restrictions : none. I want to use the 3 man squad in a 2k game, would that be all right, provided I check it out with my opponent?

All formations are legal, unless they state they are designed for a specific game type.

No reason not to, but only the 5 hellbrute formation is a squad, the 3 hellbrute formation deep strike as separate units.

And on the random note, you could run a list of nothing but hellbrute formations. All nice and battleforged too. Just not sure why you would want to.

Model cost, total effectiveness, lack of OS, off the top of my head. That said I think it would look totally awesome to se a fully painted and mod'd Hellbrute list.

I can't think of a dataslate out there that isn't "Legal". Perhaps if it were some form of appoc formation, but even then you'd just have to let your opponent know you plan on bringing it, but even in that case chances are you are both playing a appoc point values anyways

I run the Hellbrute formations quite often in my CSM army now that I have 10 of the little buggers. They perform quite well and surprisingly add quite the bit of spice to my army when you factor in they can score in a battle forged list

They can score in an Unbound list also. Just never get the Objective Secured special rule.
