Question: How can I take a Titan in a regular 40k game? Or are they limited to only Apocalypse Games? If my army is 'unbound' can I take one? Sorry for this noob question.

What sort of Titan?

Unbound, or unglued as I consider the more insane versions, simply means no strict Detachments are being used. Without a Force Organization Chart, one is able to take any Unit that would be legal for the game type agreed on by the two players. Should the Titan be flagged as Apocalypse only, I don't know what lies outside of Escalation and the Knight Detachment, then it would not be legal within vanilla Seventh but those two previously mentioned sources are all standard and possible in both Battle Forged Armies and Unglued.

8th made it so I can no longer sway Tau onto the side of Chaos, but they will eventually turn aside from their idea of the Greater Good to embrace the Greatest of pleasures.

It would be an Imperial Warhound Scout Titan. I can only find the rules for it in Apocalypse (v. 2013)

Check forgeworld site:http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/Downloads/Product/PDF/L/lordsofwar.pdf This has all the Forgeworld 40k Lords of War. But from what I see, the answer is no, Warhound is Apoc only. Only Titans allowed are Knights, Revenant Titan and the nid Bio-titans.

The Warhound is listed in that document under "Forces of the Imperium", so you certainly can take one.

I thought with the new edition of rules they allowed all Super Heavies into regular games...but you just had to pay the ridiculous points costs...fielding a titan takes half your armies points

If it's a Lord of War, it can be taken in a CAD or Unbound army. Escalation and the above Forgeworld PDF list all of the current LOW units in the game at the moment.

(Imperial Knights are a notable exception in that they are Super Heavies that are not Lords of War.)

Incorrect, a warhound is a LoW and as such can be taken within a CAD or Unbound army

So does this all mean that i could drop a revenant titan into my normal 40k games?

How about some of the eldar superheavy vehicles - lynx etc?

Yes. Of course there is the explicit rule stating that your opponet has to agree on the models you take, and if they dont like it then tough.

Essentially, its dont be a dick as a rule. Because apparently people needed to be encouraged to talk to other people in a social interaction game....

Are they Lords of War? (Check the Escalation book and the Forgeworld Lords of War PDF if you're not sure.) if so, then they take up a Lords of War slot in a Combined Arms Detachment, or can be used in any quantities in an Unbound army.

These slots are as legal as Heavy Support or Fast Attack slots, however it is worth remembering that opponents might not feel comfortable playing against a super heavy without prior knowledge.

So yes, and as Nos said above: It's a simple social choice. Your opponent can say "No" to a Lynx and you can say "No" to a Riptide, an Imperial Knight, or Assault Marines (etc.)

Yeah, seems I missed it reviewing the list.

Thank you Gentlemen.. So, from what I have gathered here I can indeed take an Imperial Warhound Scout Titan (taken as a Lord of War) in my regular Combined Arms Detachment in a standard game of Warhammer 40,000. The rules for this model are found within the book 'Apocalypse' (v. 2013).

Here is a second question relating to the first: In the book 'Escalation' (v. 2013) there is a section called 'Lord of War Data Sheets' and under this section the book lists rules which come into play if one of the players armies contains a 'Lord of War' (like my Titan). These rules are things like special Warlord traits, Victory points which may be earned through damaging a 'Lord of War' unit etc... Now this was all written/printed pre-7th Ed and the unit I am using as my 'Lord of War' (my Titan) is not listed in this book (its rules are in 'Apocalypse' (v. 2013)). Now I am wondering, do I have to use these rules listed in the 'Escalation' book because I have a 'Lord of War' in my list or not?

You can take a Knight in a regular game. Forge World Titans should be reserved for apocalypse.

Why's that? Especially if they have rules for standard 40k?
