The poor man really has a stake in the country. The rich man hasn't; he can go away to New Guinea in a yacht. The poor have sometimes objected to being governed badly; the rich have always objected to being governed at all
We love our superheroes because they refuse to give up on us. We can analyze them out of existence, kill them, ban them, mock them, and still they return, patiently reminding us of who we are and what we wish we could be.

Been curious about this one as we've had a rather sub-par offering of WWII flicks of late (Stalingrad was okay I guess). Didn't know the film would be about a tank crew. I think I can find some enjoyment in that even with Shia Lebuffalo, who I've never really liked, present.

That's a mighty quiet Sherman interior there. All the better to hear the actors' amazing lines I guess...

Not holding high hopes, but I'll watch it anyway because, well, tank porn. *Vintage* tank porn.

Ever better for the tank porn; That tiger at the end? That's Tiger 131, a genuine WWII Tiger belonging to the Bovington Tank Museum. That's fething awesome. I remember when I saw Battle of the Bulge and Patton and I just couldn't like the use of Pattons in place of the real Tiger/Tiger II.

Is 'Eavy Metal Calling?

Looks good, and I agree, there's been a bit of a death for the War Film in recent years. The Monuments Men was great for what it was, but not really an out-and-out war movie. I have Stalingrad but haven't watched it, and it looks OK.

There was a good WW1 film a few years back, Beneath Hill 60, but that's the best war film we've had in recent years.

Beneath Hill 60 was cool as a kind of war film that was totally different from other war films, but I found it kind of blarg.

Best War film I've seen in the recent years has to be My Way. Watch it. I don't care if you don't like foreign films with subtitles. Watch it

I'll have to look for that, I don't mind subtitles to be honest.

I suppose I like BH60 as I have a real fascination with the mining/tunnelling aspect of the war.

Wouldn't be much of a film if you couldn't hear anything the actors are saying and it was jut two hours of engine noises.

Amidst the mists and coldest frosts he thrusts his fists against the posts and still insists he sees the ghosts.

I was hoping this was a movie about Nick Fury of SHIELD and the Howling Commandoes.

This will have to do.

I still hold out hope that, one day, this will become a reality... Probably not, though...

I'd watch the hell out of that. Engine noises, turret traverse and cannon fire. It'd be a symphony.

For those in the UK and watch Combat Dealers this could be the movie that Bob Compton refers to.

Live your life that the fear of death can never enter your heart. Trouble no one about his religion. Respect others in their views and demand that they respect yours. Love your life, perfect your life. Beautify all things in your life. Seek to make your life long and of service to your people. When your time comes to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song, and die like a hero going home.

Wait IMBD says the summary is that its April 1945 and they are outgunned in enemy territory. WTF? We reached the Elbe River in April 1945. The Battle of Berlin began in April 45. The only place they could have outnumbered us on space planes secretly flying to their moon base.

Stupid.
