My local group recently opened up to allowing in forge world and I was wondering what the best forgeworld stuff for space marines is. What is the most cost effective point wise. Is anything better than the regular gw stuff? Does any of it shore up weaknesses in the regular space marine army? I play Iron Hands so I like vehicles and have considered an Achilles land raider (motf with iron stone and 3 servo arm servitors inside for sure).

THe Achilles is nice. The Javelins are nice too, and the super-heavies and the Sicarian are really pretty.

Spartan Assault Tank with MOTF, Chapter Master and a squad of Honour Guard. Gives Land Raiders an inferiority complex, it's that tough.

There's nothing outright "better" than you can get from Codex: Space Marines with the supplement point-for-point, but there are things that fill niches.

For example, I play an Iron Hands successor chapter that I use for allies, and they have a Land Raider Achilles as a centerpiece model, and Vaylund Cal as their Chapter Master.

I do this mostly because I consider it fluffy, but tactics wise the Achilles is probably not the best carrier for an expensive combat monster like Vaylund, because it lacks assault ramps.

Personally I don't much care for Vaylund. I think, while fluffy, he is overpriced and underwhelming. And as someone who likes to run bikes he is kinda counter intuitive to that. Well I run one squad of bike troops, and a command squad of bikes, but I have been trying to come up with a more vehicle centric list. As a ally he might not be as bad, but I usually use that spot if I run an ally as my psyker access. Not so much this edition. Not much liking psykers this edition. Though I will still probably start GK army. There Termies are just so cool looking.

I'll have to look at the model and rules. I have a serious boner for Land Raiders though lol. And Walkers especially Imperial Knights. If it reminds me of a mech or something from battletech I want it lol. Wish the Thunderhawk wasn't so ridiculously expensive.

The Spartan's just the limo version of a Land Raider, you'll love it!

I love mixing lower armour marks into my marine force to represent chapter relics, so imo it's worth picking up some marine bodies to do that. Ruleswise, nfi ; p

I think he's talking about the whirlwinds in the Legion lists (found in HH: Massacre, ect.) but yeah the scorpius is a beast too - I have a friend that regularly uses one (S9 AP3 D3+1 (provided you haven't moved) barrage. Pretty decent. I think it has better armour too

What is everyone's opinion of the Relic Sicaran Battle Tank? I already know I have to pick up the Spartan Assault Tank and the land raiders if nothing else than for apoc games.
