I am struggling to get my head round how randomly allocated wounds are resolved , particularly where a unit consists of mixed armour saves or characters , or models with multiple wounds.
Example:
A unit of 9 nobz wearing eavy armour (4+) led by a painboy (6+). Each of the nobz may have different war gear.
The unit takes 3 casualties and fails it's morale check. It takes a mob rule check and takes another D6 S4 hits.
How do you then resolve these wounds?
Also, using the same example unit, how would you resolve wounds if the unit was embarked upon a tranport that suffers an explode result?

How is it confusing? You pick a model at random. That model suffers a wound.

It is a poorly written rule, that is true. I guess A way you could decide is assign a number to each model and roll dice, but that can quickly become a giant pain the bum in large mobs.
Maybe a quicker way would be alternate between you and your opponent picking the models?

So what if the same model is hit multiple times? Do you re-roll? Or do all those hits get tanked on the one model?

Nothing stops a model from being allocated wounds multiple times

Roll... apply wounds until you remove a model... roll for the remaining group of 8... apply wounds until you remove model... roll for the remaining group of 7... etc until you run out of wounds

Re roll.
Where are you getting this from? You are completely wrong

I read the OP's statement as if he was trying to apply multiple hits to the same model before resolving the wounds. It doesn't sound correct to me that you could do that and through luck have like 3 wounds get taken on a guy with only 1 wound (assuming save failures). If that is indeed how it works, then I am mistaken.

Wound allocation is always done one wound at a time.

Yeah so if he was using a system of applying a number to each model in the unit and rolling for random allocation and he rolls the same number a second time after already killing a model on the first hit then he should reroll rather than try to apply the 2nd wound to an already dead model.
Bit convoluted but that is what I thought/meant.

If there are 6 or less models, allocate each a number and roll to see who's hit, resolve the hit then repeat is probably the best way to do it. if there are 6 or more, split the unit in half with a "1-3 it's this half, 4-6 it's that half" then allocate each a number. it's unfortunate that it takes so long. in big mobs of boys, I don't think anyone would begrudge you for taking them all on the boys. hardcore gamers might ask that you randomise, in which case a D66 is 36 outcomes, so say that a 64+ is the nob or something.
