So planning on using Green stuff for the first time this week and i'm unsure how to mold with it (as only ever used liquid green stuff). Aiming to try creating over part of a Necron's right side of his rib cage skin that has three studs pinning it into the Necron's rib.

But as said i'm unsure how to use green stuff to mold as never attempt before. Anyone got any good advice or tips for it?

There is a lot of good stuff on YouTube now, when I get home I'll go through my bookmarks.

I'd say just start small and build in layers. It cures fast like 20-30 minutes; meaning it won't be hard yet, but you won't be able to keep manipulating it.

Grab some sculpting tools, an old paint brush and a dulled exacto to help make your shapes.

Aha alrighty will have look through the bookmarks once sent (if really don't mind doing that its very kind of you to do that). Just this is my first starting one, going to blend liquid green stuff with it to help blur the lines out and such

Done cammo so well I'd hate to ruin it at last hurdle.

I have had terrible experience with liquid green stuff. Terrible. It didn't ruin my childhood, but that's probably because it didn't get a chance.

For filling in the gap on that cloak, I've used liquitex's modeling paste and just regular greenstuff, smoothed into the gap.

Well, there's a slight risk of gluing something together with it. Only slight, mind.

OK, I'll have to think on that as I've never used it before and after spending so long on it and even adding facial cammo and 5-6 colour layered sections. , I may have to leave it till I feel ready to try.

I've only used Liquid Green stuff on my Khorne Berserker conversion Champion and had a really easy time with it one got used to texture (but it is bit pain to start with due to thickness of it)

jhe90, that cloak you got there is one I used on an IG conversion to make a custom Platoon commander. Its a pain to hollow out entire thing lol

Never tried to do camo effects, usually one for blunt direct looking, once I gotten my armies to a high point rating, going to get myself some camo army next I think

I'll have to post pics tommorow and of the line in the cloak I have. Its not a pretty line but I can ignore it for now. Still needs base finishing and perfecting more.

Cammoflarge is not too hard, just not best if you have a huge army to do in a short time.

My advice would be to use slightly more yellow than blue as this keeps the Green Stuff softer and easier to work with. When you are combining both parts add in a small blob of Vaseline as this removes a great deal of the stickiness you get with Green Stuff, after that some good old fashioned spit should be sufficient to stop your tools sticking to the Green Stuff; don't wet the Green Stuff too much though where you want it to actually stick to a surface or you can find that no matter what you do it'll just keep falling off!

Mainly I use a very old Citadel sculpting tool (the blade end snapped off years ago but I didn't use that much anyway) and a small pointed clay shaper is invaluable. I frequently use my fingers (with the aid of some spit) to smooth out the Green Stuff and often that will be a much more effective method than using a tool.

If you want to make cloaks and the like then I also recommend using some old material (I used an old handkerchief) dipped in watered down PVA glue. Whilst the glue is still wet you can shape the material and then you just apply more PVA to keep everything in place. I've used this method on an ork warboss and you can probably find a picture in my gallery to see how that looks.

Ah I see and understand what you saying as never did quite understand what having too much yellow / Blue could do in knowing so thanks for that heads up lol saved me a disaster there and then.

So far working on green stuff on my Necron (which I know Crimson Fist players will hate me for) and my Nurgle Chaos lord (who all Ultra players will hate me for lol)

You can also use cooking oil if you don't have vaseline.

If you mess up, don't worry. Just let the ruined gs harden and just peel it off. Gs is pretty sticky but after it is hard it can easily come off (especially the thin bits). If you accidentally take off your non ruined work you can just glue it back with super glue (real super glue not that gw gak).

Every time I hear "in my opinion" or "just my opinion" makes me want to strangle a puppy. People use their opinions as a shield that other poeple can't critisize and that is bs.

If you can't defend or won't defend your opinion then that "opinion" is bs. Stop trying to tip-toe and defend what you believe in.

Will take them ideas into mind about making finger tips damp and bit of the gs damp for easier sculpting as hopefully my bits to make my Chaos Nurgle Lord are appearing tomorrow or day after

so gives me time to take in all the things learning and reading here from you all and your wonderful suggestions Will certainly show the end result of the green stuff process once it has being completed

If you're using any kind of oil, vaseline or chapstik etc, make sure you wash it off with some warm soapy water after it's fully hardened so that you can paint over it!
