Has anyone ever tried to run a SM CC squad buffed by a Sororitas Priest? (using War Hymns to either boost saves or wounds)

Thinking Priest added to:

-CM + HG in LR
-TH/SS termies in LRC
-Crusader squad in LRC
-DA DW Knights in LRC would be nice too

Any experience with these options? Or any other combos I didn't think of? How does the rest of the army look like? (assuming about 2k)

If I’m going to field a psychotic religious nutter, it’s going to be my psychotic religious nutter. I’ve got chaplains, and I’m not afraid to use them.

One problem is deployment and space. I like assault marines, and no JP for the priests. I also use a stock Phobos LR, so can barely fit 5 terminators in there to start with.

The other issue is how much do you want to devote to CC? I know they are not that expensive, but whenever you ally, there is a bit of overhead involved. I’d rather not deal with it.

So I’ve considered it, but decided it wasn’t worth it, for assorted reasons. Nothing deal breaking, and it would probably be fun trying, but just not my cup of tea.

Priests are great, but give them something to make them not take their leadership tests on Ld7 (litanies of faith, Celestine's bubble). Remember that their tests don't use the highest Ld in the unit.

1400 points of EW/MW Italians (FoW)
2200 points of SoB and Inquisition (40K)
1000 points of orks (40K)
Just starting out with Ultramarines (30K)
Four 1000-2500 point forces for WHFB (RIP)
One orc team (Blood Bowl)

Yeah, was thinking of slapping the Litanies on him, at 55pts (power maul) he's still a bargain and edges out our Chaplain in buffs (albeit weaker). I just don't know if I should go with full blown assault termies or if it's still worth it on less expensive squads.
Was thinking of building a fluff army with BTs and Sisters, just unsure on primary vs ally and point investment in each faction.

Really? Doesn't it just say a ld test is required, which would then follow the rule of using the highest available. Surely it would say an 'unmodified ld test' otherwise?

Not flaming or anything I've just don't know how you reached your conclusion and wish to understand and accept I might be wrong.

On page 13 of the rule book under the section of Leadership tests, it specifies two situations where Ld test is called for. One when a model is to take the test and the second situation, when a unit has to take the test.

And in the SoB codex, it mentions the model takes the test, for the Priest. So it is resolved with the model's Ld stat.

A change from the more vague version in 6th Ed. Sorry, I forgot to mention I was referencing the 7th Ed rulebook.

That is correct, per the new 7th rule. That's why the 15pts investment in the Litanies are well worth it.

Thanks for that. There's certainly no ambiguity there now. I really liked that they've tightened up alot of the wording and clarified things a bit, but I'm still trying to find and remember all the tweaks.

litanies of faith was a must-take before, probably partly why I was so unfamiliar with the exact wording, but it's even more so now.
