As everyone knows, Ork special characters were moved into the HQ slot in the new dex. It's left me thinking if there will be possible shake ups.

I don't know what other faction had special characters beside Ultramarines.

Is it possible that SGT Chronus and SGT Tellion can be moved into the HQ slot?

I honestly don't know and would like others input. I hope not considering that there is an abundance of HQ special characters already.

Well weren't they all in HQ originally back when you needed opponents permission and to have at least 1,500?

The difference is Chronus and Tellion are upgrade characters, so I don't think they're going anywhere unless they get a promotion to independent characters.

I'm not sure there are many other non-HQ special Characters. IG lost all of theirs in the Great Codex Cull of 2014; Al'Rahem, Chenkov, Mogul Kamir (although he might still be there, Ii honestly haven't checked) and Bastonne were all upgrades to squads and are now kaput. Marob was an Elites choice, and is likewise AWOL.

I think the more worrying trend is the moving of 'famous' Characters to the Lord of War slot. First off, it necessitates having another HQ to fill the FOC requirement (and when you're spending 250+ points on a SC, you can't really afford more), and it also means you then have no option (outside a second FOC) to include Super-heavies, which will probably mean we see less LOW HQs in-game. Very few people would take Ghazkull over a Stompa or Skulhamma, I imagine. Worryingly, by the end of this edition, I can imagine Calgar, Abbadon, Vect (with the Dais), Eldrad, Imhotek, The Swarmlord and maybe even Logan and Mephiston moving to LOW slots for no real increase in power.

I think the only codex, which really has many special characters that are not on the HQ section are Wolves, and then again its only 2 of them. IG has 1 i believe, and that is it.

I assume that's a deliberate nerf to special charectors, or at least the very powerful ones. I for one got tired of seeing special charectors in pretty much every single army, at least if you have to take another HQ as "tax" it should shut that down a bit.

Interestingly I suspect Blood Angels are the only Army that has a model for all their special characters so they should be safe (saying that Marbo had a model and he was ripped from the IG dex).

I could imagine Mephiston or the Sanguinor going to LoW, which would be a shame.
