InControl takes his Nids with a Barbed Heirodule out against Tastey Taste's Daemons in this video bat rep! Sorry everyone, I don't have the lists for this bat rep.

One of InControl's first comments, 'going second is going to be powerful in 7e' ... Not quite. Going 2nd in the BAO Maelstrom missions is powerful.

I think that gong second is a priority in general. In the ATC missions, it has been very important to go second as far as I can tell. Anything can score now, and anything can contest, which means that it will be very important to have that last turn to contest in competitive play, or to drop Objective Secured troops.

Um. Let's say player Fred parks a tactical Space Marine on an objective. Then Bob moves a WraithKnight to the same objective. It's still the marine's. The WK doesn't deny it at all. Fred scores the point.

Didja miss-type something seeing as you mention Objective Secured Troops at the end?

BTW:
Nicely called game, InControl (no sarcasm, though I disagreed as above). You continue to have great narratives.

Great report, thanks guys!

One small thing (that may have not-so-small consequences) - does the Hierodule have a rule allowing it to fire Overwatch? As a Gargantuan Creature, it normally wouldn't be able to fire Overwatch (Unit Types > Gargantuan Creatures & Flying Gargantuan Creatures > Shooting).

So, unless I'm missing a special rule for the Hierodule that allows it to fire overwatch, Be'lakor should have survived the battle to hold the relic.

Good to see Geoff around doing reports again. Funny guy who brings some good real time commentary.

A lot of folks keep saying that but I really don't see it. We play the crap out of our missions to test them and I still choose to go first more often than not and have no issues at all.

Going second will always be advantageous in an objective game. Go look at stats on ToF, the guy who seizes the initiative tends to lose in missions with lots of objectives =)

@thread

Glad you all enjoyed the report and yes, InControl is funny as hell.

Still surprising InControl plays Tyranid, figured a Protoss player would play Tau or Eldar

It all depends on who you play, but in many games I have noticed that troops die quickly and then "normal" units are left to seize objectives. For Flying Monstrous creatures I believe going second is a priority, as they must drop down to jump mode to score, and therefore become much more vulnerable. Other lists with a lot of fast Objective Secured or long ranged firepower may benefit from going first, but I believe the army InControl runs (which is similar in some ways to my own) benefits a lot from going second. However, I have never actually played the BAO missions, I've been doing exclusively ATC missions.

You do know you only get a Victory point for 3 off a super hvy in escalation missions. It is one of their rules it doesn't carry to standard missions I am fairly certain. Isn't "Victory thru Attrition" is for LOW missions only. At work so not totally sure will have to look later.

You do know that we implemented that rule in the BAO missions, right?

Not trying to be flippant, but that is a mission rule we implemented to help balance out Super Heavies. They go towards the secondary mission points.
