So, when an FAQ is released it usually contains a mixture of helpful rule clarifications, clarifications on stuff that most thought was already pretty clear and a few left-field points that nobody seemed to be thinking about.

Where do GW source these questions from? Is it only from emails or phone calls? Games played at warhammer world? What determines if they are asked with enough frequency to warrant an FAQ entry?

If we know the channel by which GW rules queries most affect the FAQ, then surely Dakka has enough manpower to force GW to clarify most of what dakka considers the most game-knackering un-answered questions, or to re-word some of their more ambiguous rules.

Similar to petitioning the government.

Really all they have to do is go onto YMDC and look up all the threads with a couple pages of debate to see what they need to change. It actually sounds quicker to do it this way than reading through a bunch of emails but then again, I don't work there.

My very subjective opinion is that GW doesn't really pay attention to FAQ's and what they need to make a ruling on. It's like GW has the attitude of "well, if you don't like it, make up your own rules!". This is reinforced by the whole "use a d6 and dice off" rule. How they can totally ignore Graviton weapons and how they work on a multi-armor save units and vs. cover saves on vehicles, but give an FAQ on Chapter Tactics selection. I can't believe a Space Marine player needs to be told that they have to select the chapter from where they select a chapter tactic, or that the question was asked so often, that it had to be added to the FAQ...
