Subject: Flamer placement important when useing overwatch?

Hi All
Tried a search couldnt find anything helpfull.
A situation arose the other day, i was charged in the flank, my 4 flamers were spread out in the squad, none were on the *edge* of the assualt, I stated i was going to use them for the wall of death rule, but my opponant stated that they couldnt be used due to the fact they wernt on the side getting charged. I checked the wording in the RB, and it states to ignore the template effect and just do the D3 hits.
So my question is, if you are charged and your flamers arnt in the front or side etc, can you still use them in over watch?
Cheers all
Smudge

Doesn't matter where they are, it's automatic d3 hits per flamer.

Good question. Have to double-check my book when I get off work, but yes, I believe that the wall of death does get around the range limitation. hmmm, interesting.

Considering the rules disallow charges against a unit that it cannot reach and most units can only charge a maximum of 12" I don't see that as a problem.

Templates are 8ish inches so within range of a average charge, also issues occur when a unit is relatively big or very spread out and the flamers are in the back.
Also Tau support fire could be funny.
