So, I never saw anything in the rules concerning shooting past ships.

If I have an X-Wing, and I'm going head-on toward a pair of TIEs, one behind the other, is there no penalty for shooting the one in the back of the formation?

There is no penalty for shooting through any intervening ship or asteroid.

Not true with the asteroid. If shooting through an asteroid, your opponent gets an extra green dice.

I said there was no penalty for shooting through an asteroid. His question never asked if it would give opponent extra agility dice.

And most people would class that as the same thing. That kind of pedantry, especially without explanation, just confuses people.

Just to be clear for the OP:

Shooting through ships has no effect.
Shooting through asteroids gives the defender 1 extra green defense die.

So gifting your opponent an extra agility dice, thereby making your shot less likely to cause damage isn't a penalty?

You are reaching. Just say; "You are right. I should have said that" and move on.

It will certainly make you look better.

Not sure if you will get into much EPIC play, but the Huge ships also block line of sight as per the rules for an asteroid, giving a additional green die. You can also use the GR75 in place of 3 asteroids in casual play, which is a real blast if you have one.

If you ever play with the Huge ships, make sure to stay away from them; they make wide turns. We had three untouched ships slam into the dang transport because of the way it swung about when turning.
