Yes, the red primer is twice as thin as the black/white primers, it is actually made to be applied over the black/white primers. Shame they didn't convey that very well.

use army painter red primer, work best for me. I spray on, wash, use matching red paint to block off over shade, and then paint details. I also use an airbrush for zenithal highlighting for my more time consumign army.

i had no idea that it was to go on over a primer, so lets say i get a can of white primer from gw, followed by the red can. whats next? straight onto a wash followed by a little highlight in the base colour?

Get your white primer from Halford's not GW.
It may also be worth a shot at using the red oxide instead of the white - it may give you a richer colour + if you miss anywhere with the BA Red you will be left with 'shadow' rather then pink.
Might have to do that myself for my Bezerkers.

BTW Anyone know how much the Army Painter cans hold?

Also I've started taking photos to use as reference for weathering which can be found here. Please send me your photos so they can be found all in one place!!

Found out that WG cans contain 400ml

So for comparison (colour not primer):

Games Workshop > £10 / £11 for 400ml = 2.5 / 2.75p/ml
Warlord Games > £10 for 400ml = 2.5p/ml
Plastic Soldier Company > £8.50 for 400ml = 2.1p/ml
Halford's > £7.99 for 300ml = 2.7p/ml

All of the GW color sprays (other than black/white) are made to go over primer.

I noticed that the plastic glue label recommends wearing something akin to a hazmat suit when handling the glue. I have been using it for years and never used gloves or anything nor do I know anyone who does. ShouldI be worried for my health?

Well, there's a slight risk of gluing something together with it. Only slight, mind.

Halfords primer red is £7.49 for 500ml, 1.498 p/ml

Did not know that they do coloured primers (apart from the white, grey, yellow ochre & red oxide).

Id second army painter only because they also carry a color matched paints for touch ups.

As for painting the model it self,

Prime > Base coat > Gloss coat > Wash/oil wash if you wana get fancy > Matt coat > Highlights and details > re matt coat for protection.
