Can a Gunslinger, or something similar, forfeit its move while its engaged in melee to get the aiming bonus?

...a model does not get the aiming bonus when targeting a model in its melee range...

Yeah no aiming at the guy trying to smack you in the face. On a slightly related note you can however forfeit you movement/aim with one model in a unit, then have another model in the unit attack first to kill the model engaging you and then then get your normal ranged attack with the aiming bonus.

Thanks a lot once again i missed an important sentence while reading.
Although this question came to me from a battle report i watched where a Behemoth did it, i used gunslinger as an example because i suck at reading.

Big B does not have Gunfighter though. It has something completely different in the sub cortex, which allows it to fire even while engaged but with a -2 to the roll. There's no general rule that "everything in melee loses its aiming bonus". In each case where this is true (e.g. gunfighter and Colossals) it is specifically mentioned. In other cases where a model can make ranged attacks while engaged (e.g. weapon platform and the Behemoth's sub-cortex rule), it follows all the normal rules for ranged attacks, including an aiming bonus.

There can be a point to aiming if you have Gunfighter and Virtuoso and have melee and ranged weapons.

For example, Master Holt has 2 gunblades and 2 guns.

He is in melee with an enemy model.

He forfeits movement to aim, stabs the guy he is in melee with and kills him, and then he shoots his pistols at 2 other enemy models. He gets the aim bonus against those models.

The same with Sub-cortex or Weapon Platform.
