So, not very long ago I tried 40k and found the game much more enjoyable than WHFB. However, as my army continues to grow, I'm faced with the following dilemma:

I currently have in my Empire army a squad of 16 flagellants with a unit filler of four, making a squad of 20. I hear everyone say that flagellants are great for converting ministorium priests and wyrdvane psykers, which I both need (two of both). However, that would mean I'd have to take models from my Empire army, which will come back to haunt me should I go back to WHBF sometime.

So, should I do it or not? Also, has anyone ever considered doing something similar? Was it worth it?

1400 points of EW/MW Italians (FoW)
2200 points of SoB and Inquisition (40K)
1000 points of orks (40K)
Just starting out with Ultramarines (30K)
Four 1000-2500 point forces for WHFB (RIP)
One orc team (Blood Bowl)

I personally wouldn't take the models form the fantasy army and convert them to 40k, instead I would be more inclined to buy the same models and convert new ones.

I don't like to ruin the work I've previously done for models to make new ones. But that's just me.

Is it an option for you to buy another kit and convert them to the 40k models you need?

6000 - Hive Fleet Limax
4000 - Sons of Horus
5500 - Ultramarine's
1000 - Blood Raven's
3000 - Skaven

Not really, no. My budget for plastic crack has somewhat run out at the moment

On a maybe not unrelated side note: the models are not yet painted.

Are you really going to miss one or two flagellants?

I mean, worst case, you have to ebay a few more for your empire army, or buy another box of flagellants, a few of which you use for a guard army, and the rest, well, hey, you have more flagellants for your empire army!
