I don't blame you. I just have a hand jam AMR for a polio and a small pox vaccination mission. The AMR number confirms the mission. Polio mission was in West Afghanistan and not in East Afghanistan. Its standard AMR. The Hand Jam portion was added in short notice for the Small pox vaccine. Why alert WHO when the problem can be resolved within two weeks. Why would the military expend its resources protecting WHO in a real bad area. It was a hop and pop mission. Done deal. back in two weeks (another follow on mission not involving my aircraft).
Its one of those 99.9 percent situation. That .01 percent going to come around some how, some way, some where. I think "some place" the Russians had a hand in it. My opinion
You know and I know the US Military is good at keeping many things hidden from general public knowledge. I can list crap we do in Afghanistan and Iraq that would make you go "WTF"

Afghanistan was a clusterfeth to vaccinate during the campaign. Do I believe that there may still be areas that are still not 100% vaccinated? Sure. Would I not be surprised one bit if the military found an area with sub-optimal levels of vaccinations (easy to verify by lack of scars)? Sure. Would I not be surprised it the military made sure that everybody that was not vaccinated that long ago got their vaccines now, especially if they are already on a polio mission? Makes total sense.
Having active cases of a disease running around in an area with bad herd immunity with no way to track population movement prior to discovery and not notifying anyone and not placing the entire country on lockdown? Don't buy it at all.
That is a public health concern that goes way past any army action.

Two villages. Remote area. Pretty much need a rotary aircraft to get there. They don't migrate. They stay in one area. Its tribal village. Both villages in one grid square. Next town was 15 miles down mountain on a goat trail that would give Xerxes triple thoughts to go up it. They have everything they need in their location

Honestly, this.
Frankly if two isolated villages were hot for smallpox I'd still expect a massive media frenzy over it, regardless of how isolated they are.

I believe that you went on a mission to vaccinate a village in Afghanistan - you've been on these forums a long time and I've never known you to lie about anything, let alone something just to win an argument - but I don't believe that equates to even a single case of smallpox, let alone an outbreak - any more then the rubella vaccinations that every schoolchild gets in the US are in response to even a single case of rubella, let alone a rubella outbreak. Do you see what I mean?
The polio one makes a lot of sense because we all know polio exists in the wild, it exists in the region; and there remains a concerted and contested effort to eradicate it the way smallpox was. Was it possible that the smallpox vaccinations were hand-in-hand with the polio ones?
So far as a coverup... Sure, I guess the military could cover an outbreak up, but why? I know a moron on Facebook who swears that the military found "2 armed nuclear devices in Iraq" according to "Pentagon sources"; but that the military hushed it up. What he can't explain is why we would cover something up that would vindicate 2 different presidential administrations and restore some of our lost prestige with the international community, as well as give a good rationale for what wound up being a waste of thousands of lives and trillions of dollars in pursuit of nonexistent WMDs, as well as provide a solid basis for the continued flow of trillions of taxpayer dollars to the US war machine - the one thing both parties truly truly love to do.
That's often the problem with the Alex Jones types; they can give you chapter and verse on "how" but never the "why".

Why would the US Military debunk WHO. Terrain in Afghanistan a mofo. So WHO might have thought they got all the remote villages but didn't. Russia was in Afghanistan for ten years afterwards. Russia tore the place apart and took the Afghani's to the stick age damn near. Question though on our mind. Was it a natural form of small pox formed by nature or a Russian "feth you" hit.

I get that public health is not your specialty, which is why you probably don't realize what a huge giant world changing event a single confirmed case of smallpox would be. Every single thing we have based epidemiology and outbreak response on for the last 30 years would have been wrong and would have to be fundamentally changed. A lifetime worth of work would have been completely worthless. It's not "oops, we missed a village and now they have active smallpox, no worries we will take care of it, no reason to tell anyone", it's "oh holy mother of gak we are all fethed because it's still alive". From a public health perspective, if there was even a single confirmed case of smallpox in Afghanistan you guys would have been out there vaccinating every living breathing human in that entire country, again, with the rest of the world sending in troops and teams to help. And then you would lock that country down, remote village or not. Even if the US decided to make the phenomenal mistake of keeping an active smallpox outbreak a secret from the WHO, we would have seen a level of activity in all levels of US public health that you wouldn't be able to hide. We are talking stockpiles of vaccines to cover every single human being on the entire continent being shipped to every major city.
I don't think you are lying, I just think that maybe you misunderstood what exactly was going on there and why you guys decided to vaccinate the village. Mainly because I don't think that you realize just exactly how big a deal it would be if what you are saying was true. And if it was true I would bet everything that they would have made sure to drill it into you that you will never speak of it to anybody ever, and I would imagine that the warning would have even severe enough for you not to mention the event here. That's why I think that there was possibly a "there are smallpox survivors in a village that was never vaccinated, let's hit them up" situation. Because really, it would change everything. It really is that huge of a deal. It would mean that the biggest public health project on this planet failed.

Smallpox vaccine is given to people at risk for monkeypox, as it is the same family of viruses.

What if it was a success and it was a Russian "feth you" hit? Couldn't raise the flag on the possibility of Russian popping small pox on them being we were getting intelligence and advice from the Russians at the time. Also the Russians at that time frame didn't know what the "left hand" was doing along with the "right hand" and the "Higher Ups" directing. We do not know. So why declare WHO failed or accuse Russia of Bio Warfare. My advice. If one goes to Afghanistan get your Small Pox vaccination

Even if you wanted to keep it hush, we would have seen a ton of actions against smallpox and to prepare the entire US population for vaccination. There is really nothing to be gained by keeping it secret, and if we had any reason to believe that Russia did something we would have used that ace in our pocket a long time ago IMO.
Again: I don't think you are lying. I'm sure you guys went there to vaccinate against smallpox and I'm sure you that you believe that the reason was for an outbreak. I just think that you are mistaken about the exact reason why.
Just because it would be that huge of a deal and I know you take your job seriously enough that you would not be here talking about smallpox if it was smallpox, because anybody above you would have made sure that you never speak about it to anyone.
I don't think you are lying, I'm just explaining why I have a very hard time believing the scenario.

Although from what I could find in journals and from the mention of our primate overlords my educated guess is going to be in a monkeypox outbreak. We do vaccinate workers and aid personal that to into areas where monkeypox is common with smallpox vaccines and monkey pox is known to be in Afghanistan.

Yeah, a single unverified report. Nice.
Well, my little sister we adopted from Kazakhstan, according to her records, had Small Pox when she was 3.
We think they actually meant Chicken Pox or some other type of pox. She obviously didn't have Smallpox.
