Wow.
I know! Awesome, isn't it?
Agreed. Quite apart from what looks to be an absolutely fantastic Logan model, a floaty longboat-inspired chariot is thematic without being as lazy as "wolves riding wolves *mother of god memeface* ermahgerd we're geniuses" crap that was TWC. Once again though, GW seem intent on sabotaging the quality of their output with crappy "you can do it too, little Timmy!" paintjobs on the studio models.
At discounter prices, I'll be getting one of these in a couple of months just for Logan, and I'll likely save the chariot for a custom diorama when FW release Leman Russ.

"The language of modern British politics is meant to sound benign. But words do not mean what they seem to mean. 'Reform' actually means 'cut' or 'end'. 'Flexibility' really means 'exploit'. 'Prudence' really means 'don't invest'. And 'efficient'? That means whatever you want it to mean, usually 'cut'. All really mean 'keep wages low for the masses, taxes low for the rich, profits high for the corporations, and accept the decline in public services and amenities this will cause'." - Robin McAlpine from Common Weal

Holy crap, that chariot and Logan are fantalicious!
And I convinced myself that the Wolfgurad Edition isn't overpriced:
Codex: 39€
Supplement: 39€
160p. Companies book: probably 50€
6 metal objectives: 20€ easily
12 art prints: comparing it to picture postcards I would say at least 3€ each, so 36€
really nice box: 10€
So my estimated retail price for all items combined is 194€ and GW wants 200€. So if we disregard for a moment that 39€-50€ are way too high prices for those books, you actually get decent value for your money without paying much for the rarity.

Logan Grimnar - Lord of War - Points = Land Raider
Epic new model, comes with a sort of grav-chariot called 'Stormrider' pulled by two enormous Fenrisian wolves, but he can be used without it as well.
Stormrider - Points = 70
Treated as a vehicle, didn't get AVs, has a 4+ Invulnerable save and cannot suffer Penetrating hits (all Pens are reduced to Glances).
Gives Logan 4 S5 Ap- attacks on a turn when he charges.
Logan loses Deep Strike if he takes Stormrider
Lots of other cool rules, but didn't get those.
Sounds detailed enough to be either very true or very wrong, but no reason to doubt this far!
Bit odd to give both models a 4++ though, as the controlling player allocates wounds between the two anyway no? Also I thought the rider retains his attack profile and is not superseded with any others? I for one would rather the old Frost Sword/Power Fist choice, S4 AP3 beats S5 AP- any day of the week for me. Unless it is a form of Furious Charge in addition, in which case I'll take one now thank you!
Flipping Penetrating hits into Glancing hits would be great though, eliminates all chance of Immobilisation outside of Dangerous Terrain.

Totally worth it.

I said, ‘we recruit for attitude and not for skill’. It is what makes us great. It is those people who design the miniatures; those people who make them and those people who sell them; those people who transformed our business systems in five short months. I have been deluged with two comments about that statement, neither of which was: 'you fool, you just gave away the crown jewels'. Why doesn't everyone do it? Ask them.

I think you're looking for the 'Is GW going under?' thread or the Annual Report thread...

Y'know, I find myself warming slightly to the chariot... because it occurred to me that it's the sort of off-beat thing that if I had come across it as a conversion in someone's modelling blog, I would have said was hilarious and awesome.
I think part of the problem for me is that GW's Thunderwolves are awful.
As others have mentioned, the painting also doesn't help it any.
But as a concept... yes, it's silly. But it is also kind of epic.

Aww damn. You got it.
This is just the basic profile, the army list will have info on whether they can purchase CCWs (and unless the pics they have posted are illegal, they totally can).
WallaceMerrett wrote: Hmmm I wish it was longer like the fluffly image suggested, but cool in concept if not entirely my cup of tea, (might be the slight bling overload that's not ticking all the boxes personally). That being said, congratulations to GW for trying something different, I'll pick one up regardless once someone buys my damn Stormclaw Ork army
I think a different paint job will do it a lot of justice. Also, aren't those TWC size wolves? Damn.
Actually it is the exact same plastic as the TWC box, 2 of the 3 wolves from the box.
Form what I can tell
Unless I'm looking incorrectly, the wolves are different. The TWC box comes with one with a bionic arm and ones with a bionic left eye, and right wolf on the chariot is leaping off of something that is not ground level.
It's been a while since I assembled mine, but Im 99% sure the wolves had option to not use/use bionics. I know I have at least 1 extra TW leg in my box.
Look at the feet position, if it isn't the same sprus, its a very minor changed one.
No, they're definitely the TWC that come in the box, they have interchangeable legs. Source: I just bought a box a week ago, so I know.
It's one of the things I loved when my friend got me into it in the 90s. I know it's more "serious" over all now, but why can't it have some fun thrown in?

Well, yeah... If I were building one for my own Wolf army, it would obviously have a pair of these in front instead...
That would be excellent!
I think Logan will be important not just because of the model but because of all the modelling possibilities.

Nice to see some Wolf Guard with The Great Wolf's heraldry on them, the one on the left even looks like he has the original Grey from Logan's original heraldry.
I think he will look good, but why oh why does the belt have some garish yellow on it we will likely never know...
Edit: Got my left and right confused, school boy error!

Oh come off it, you know you were secretly thinking the same thing
And the Ben Hur chariot race is one of the best action sequences in movie history, imo! I would give massive props to someone doing an army of these in that theme

Logan looks epic. This is really turning out to be a great release as far as I'm concerned. A flyer that's awesome, the best Dread kit to date, and something new, original and unique in the Chariot. All it's missing is a new Ragnar/Ulric, but there's plenty of time...
So far, the only thing in don't like is the codex cover art, and even then, only because I love the old one.
I'm often critical of GW, but credit where it's due, this month's releases are great!

If the rumoured rules are true too, then the Codex itself might actually be awesome too. We're really only waiting to hear whether the weaker options have been made worthwhile or if there are any major nerfs.

To be honest, that doesn't bother me so much. A) I hardly get to play these days, and B) I'd run Wolves even if they were the worst army out there. But yeah, the codex rumours do sound solid, and as long as I can keep P/ccw/bolter, which pics would indicate I can, I'll be happy.
On an unrelated note, I just found an old white lion chariot on my shelf, and now find myself wondering if plasticard, green stuff and bits might get me a Loganmobile for free...
