Some that I can think of at the top of my head:
"That's no law, just a sword. Happens I got one too." - Yoren
"No one wants you for their king. Sorry." Renly
Not sure how Daven L. phrased this one during the siege of Riverrun- "The Blackfish put a quarrel in Ryman's horse. He fell on his arse and I laughed so hard, I almost pissed myself."
"Do you even know what honour is?"
A horse

Daenerys Targaryen: [to her khalasar] I am Daenerys Stormborn of House Targaryen, of the blood of Old Valyeria. I am the dragon's daughter, and I swear to you that those who would harm you will die screaming.
Mirri Maz Duur: You will not hear me screaming.

Nah, I've read the first book and a half, watched the first two seasons, been very unimpressed (although some of the actors do an amazing job: Jeoffry, Littlefinger, Ned, Dinklage), and caught up with a few things online: it's just one big snuff-script. All he's doing is being edgy to see how gruesome he can make the next death. Eventually, it just becomes pathetic. So...no, not hater gonna hate, it's just that I can recognize crappy "story telling".
I say he got lucky because for some reason, lots of people like it. Rowling got lucky too: she was lucky her friend pulled the story of Harry Potter out of the trash and told her to publish it. Lots of people get one lucky break that takes them further than expected. At least in her case, I can understand how lots of kids could love those books. GRRM stuff appeals to people who want to see others murdered in vicious ways, and not much else.*
*my sister, step sister, and one of my closest friends all love GoT. I don't get the fascination, and I've tried.

I believe one of the more attractive aspects of ASoIaF is that it breaks from the usual mold of "Everyone lives unless I'm feeling Artsy". Most books, you know that ultimately, few characters will die (barring an artsy, dark book). Those who die, tend to die in semi-predictable patterns- The Mentor, the Rival, the Black Guy, the Guy Who is More Likable than the Protagonist, etc. The protagonist never dies, unless there is some kind of Heroic Sacrifice going on. With Martin you know characters are actually at-risk. You don't find yourself thinking "Yeah, like you're actually going to do it". You find yourself thinking "Pleasedontdoitpleasedontdoitpleasedontofeth".
It's kinda refreshing.

I agree, although I 100% get where Timetowaste85 is coming from.
GRRM's writing does have a lot of unnecessary violence and all around lewdness which is really just there for shock value.
I like that he isn't afraid to kill your favorite characters in nasty ways and that there is some honesty that nobody here is truly a good person, its just slightly overcompensating.
There are some places where it would have been very interesting if he'd done something a little different(or at least they'd done it differently in the show)
Like when Tywin says "Any king who must say 'I am the King' is no king at all" to Jeoffrey it would have been far more interesting if, instead of backing down, he'd have clapped Tywin in irons. And maybe done the same to his mother if he'd come to the realization that she was controlling him as well.
A classic case of someone creating a monster who then turns on them. Tywin just sees Jeoffrey as a puppet for the Lannisters to control Westros with till he dies and his, hopefully, more sensible son ascends to the Throne. But then Jeoffrey kills that plan by breaking free of that control, and falling under the control of his wife.

Writes a fairly realistic series of novels.
Gets accused of writing in gruesome scenes for the sake of shock value.
Okay then, that's enough internet for today. Personally, I'm a bit invested in several of the characters and of course I want to see what happens when Winter actually arrives. Of course, that's a lie, I'm just reading the books to fap to the smorgasbord of death scenes.

Yeah. Just like real life. Weird huh? Its almost as if the author is deliberately trying to avoid the traditional cliched fantasy story where the good guys always win or die heroic meaningful deaths...
