I was gonna give mine a warp jump generator and put him with my warp spiders jumping about the table taking out anything I can sounds like fun. Is this a viable option? And how do you run yours?

Basic, Avenger Catapult or lasblaster, I haven't quite made the final decision since he's a bit of a way out for my list of things to get. But an Autarch is just a way for me to bring in Deep Striking Corsairs and planes when I want them and I run a tank list so he just attaches himself to a Guardian or Dire Avenger squad and that's it, and hides in a tank for the match.

I usually don't run him with Warp Spiders since I use Autarchs and Spiders for different purposes. If I wanted more monofilament weapons I would just take more Spiders or another unit with one more exarch. And I usually put something melty on the Autarch and use the Jump Generator (or wings) to get to the side or back armors of vehicles. Having a melta weapon in a Spider unit just doesn't work out for me.

On a jetbike with a Banshee Mask, armed with either a laser lance or, if I have the points, a fusion gun and the Shard of Anaris. Then I stick him in a big squad of Shining Spears.
He gives the Shining Spears the extra power they need to win combats quickly, the Banshee Mask allows them to assault into cover, and if he has the Shard he makes them fearless, which is nice. The combat benefits of the Shard are kind of useless but once in a blue moon you'll run into an enemy character who isn't an Eternal Warrior and then you'll feel like a big man. Mostly I take it for the fearless benefit, though.

Solo with a Jetbike and Mantle of the Laughing God armed with the Fusion Gun, Laser Lance, Banshee Mask and Scorpion Chainsword.
He has a 4+ re-rollable cover at all times, a 2+ with any cover at all and a 2+ if he decides to jink. Against some armies he might be useless, but i use him as a scalpel to take out supporting units such as Loota's, Long Fangs and Pathfinders. He also is quite good at AT of anykind due to Fusion Gun, Strength 6 and Haywire Grenades. The only problem is Tau who strip his cover save and kill him like a fly, but i can't think of another army that can mass that much ignore cover.

I do the same except for the scorpion chainsword which you can't take since you are limited to two weapons from the list, and the banshee mask since I still got grenades and I've never run into a unit with initiative 6 or higher that I would want to charge.

Executing Exarch
|
It really depends what your autarch is there to do.
If you just want reserve manipulation and a cheap HQ, stock is fine. Throw em in a serpent with any unit of your choice for protection. You have a decent statline with power armor and a 4++, along with a rending handgun, plasma and haywire grenades.
Even if your going cheap, you can take the scorpion chainsword and banshee mask for next to nothing. The mask means that any living eldar unit will strike at least simil with anything you charge, and only I10 will beat out things like wraithguard. The sword gives you a strength boost, Ap6 and another attack for sword+pistol. Both of these are good in any autarch build. If you want, you can add a gun to contribute to the shooting of any unit he joins.
The jumptarch runs wings/warp generator, a CCW of some kind, and probably a fusion gun. Fusion guns usually mesh with death spinners on targets and range, not so much with lasblasters. A bigger spider squad might justify springing for the shard over the scorp sword.
Any autarch on a bike should take a laser lance unless your using the shard to give a unit like shining spears fearless. Melta is also good.
See what Alex wrote above about the laughingtaurch.

The most important rule of 40K-Page XVII of the 6th edition rulebook, the figure at the top right of the page. "Shake hands with your opponent and thank them for a good battle and fun experience." Then go out for a beer.

This is how mine works as well.

"'players must agree how they are going to select their armies, and if any restrictions apply to the number and type of models they can use."
This is an actual rule in the actual rulebook. Quit whining about how you can imagine someone's army touching you in a bad place and play by the actual rules.

I read somewhere about an Alaitoc-style Ranger Autarch that sounded interesting - Uldanorethi long rifle with mantle of the laughing god. Not too expensive for a pretty capable sniper.

Warp jump generator, banshee mask, scorpion chain-sword, fusion gun and firesabre. Stick him with DSing spider's. He deals with anything the spider's can't. Saying that i haven't used him in a while as he never got into a fight. Unfortunately those point's seem to be better spent elsewhere these day's.

He might be a good vehicle killer in a group of Swooping Hawks. Drop in, dump the grenade pack, toss a haywire grenade, shoot the fusion gun. Hope to live to assault or jump away next turn. Not a ridiculously powerful unit, but decent.

Except Autarchs don't get Herald of Victory, so the Hawks and the Autarch scatter as normal.
My loudout is Jetbike, Fusion Gun, Laser Lance, Banshee Mask (and Shard of Anaris). With a squad of 8 Shining Spears.
