I am gearing up for my first Tournament so here is my proposed list.
Org 1:
]HQ:
Warboss, Lukky Stikk, PK, BP, WarBike 140
Big Mek, SAG 85
2 Mek 30
Troop:
10 Gretchin, Runt Herd, Squig Hound 40
10 Gretchin, Runt Herd, Squig Hound 40
Fast:
15 WarBikkers, Nob, PK 305
Heavy:
3 Kustom Mega Kannons, 6 Gretchin 90
3 Kustom Mega Kannons, 6 Gretchin 90
Org 2:
2 PainBoyz, BP 110
Mek 15
Troop:
30 Shoota Boyz, Nob, PK 245
30 Shoota Boyz, Nob, PK 245
Heavy:
10 Lootas 140
10 Lootas 140
4 Traktor Kannons, 8 Gretchin 120
Total:1835 (not sure what to do with the last 15, maybe ammo runts or more Gretchin)
The Warboss will be with the WarBikkers.
The Painboyz will be with the Shootaz.
The Big Mek will be with a unit of Gretchin.
The Meks will be with the Ork Gunz.
I have also thought about adding an Aegis Defense Wall, but I don't know if cover 4+ is that much better than 5+ from screening troops.
Looking for advice from Tournament Players or Experienced Ork Warbosses.

Alternate List
Green Tide Formation:
Warboss, Lucky Stikk, PK, BP 115
100 Orks 100 Shootas, 5 Nobs, 5 PK, 3 BP 895
CAD:
Mad Dok Grotsnik 160
Mek 15
10 Gretchin, Squig Hound 40
10 Gretchin, Squig Hound 40
7 Warbikkers, Nob, PK, BP 166
13 Lootas 132
4 KMK, 8 Gretchin 120
4 Traktor Kannons, 8 Gretchin 120
Total: 1848
I'm not sure about the Green Tide, such as specific rules and if it is a good choice given that all of them are in one huge unit only able to shoot one opponent unit.
Mad Dok will be running with the Tide to give them FNP and Fearless.
The Mek will be with the KMK.
I have most of these models and it will be cheaper than buying bikes.
Alt 3 to Alt 1:
Drop the Bikes down to 7 and add a 3rd Boyz Unit.

Most tournaments only allow a single force org.
Have you checked with your T/O ?
That being said this list is crying for a Big Mek with KFF for the invuln saves.
You may also want to consider strength 8 dakka as all your str 8 killy stuff is powerklaws in one mob.
Any kind of AV13+ spam is going to be hard for you to deal with.

Redstone Rumble is dual force org.
I don't find much value in the KFF when there are almost always screening troops or cover.
All of my Mek Gunz are S8. List 1 has 10 of them, List 2 has 8 of them. The only way to get more is to add Rokkits to my Squads, but 54 of the shots will be wasted. Have tried Rokkit Squads, but they tend to get hosed: smaller unit, front line, all Rokkits, tend to attract attention. AV 13 and 14 do worry me, but I don't know what else to use.
I have thought about adding a Bomma, but I'm leery of their AV 10.

Honestly you first list looks great. The green tide worries me a bit.
I don't know about the SAG. I have only used them once and it wasn't the greatest experience.
I might drop a traktor kannon and give them ammo runts. They are not going to be doing much if there are no flyers. With the ammo runts they should be able to do their job better. The turn that you need them to.
But I like the list. seems pretty decent. Good luck!

Thank you, just looking for an affirmation.
List 1 was the Primary, 2 was just saving money.
SAG can be iffy, but a Large Blast AP 2 is a Heavy Infantry KRUSHA!!!
I'll think about my artillery ratio. Have also thought about swapping one of the KMK units to more Free Kannons.
Thanks again,

It was suggested to me that I should drop the SAG for a Pain Boy on a Bike or pull one of my Pain Boyz from the Boyz unit and place him in the Bike unit.
Also I am thinking of running 5 KMK in one unit and dropping the second for moral purposes.
Thoughts?

Neither are not bad suggestions. Or could attach the Mek with a KFF to the big guns to help protect them. You should be able to cover the two squads of KMK's. Yeah I didn't even think about morale with them.

Few weapons ignore cover as such my Mek Gunz should be behind cover or screening troops nearly all of the time.
I am also realizing that Storm Boyz introduce variety, unknown and zaniness when they deep strike. Plus if they get lucky they can really punish the back field. Kommandos might fill that role as well. Line Breaker, 12" Maelstrom Objective, and Back Field Objectives. (all of them are part of RR)

I don't see kommandos being that great, even with Snikrot. Unless you specifically run them into woods. But you are kind of defeating the purpose of them.
Zaniness is not a good way to win on a regular basis IMHO.
Yes you should be getting screened by your army. But you are worried about LD with your Mek Guns. With the added Grots to the units you shouldn't have to worry about LD to often with your Mek Guns. Unless you just didn't hit good enough with the 3 gun squads. In that case try some ammo runts first and see how that does for you.
Bikes should cover the 12" objective. If not then drop it for something easier to get. You should be able to make his deployment by the end of the game with your 30 boyz squad. I usually make it with my Dreads and Kans. I hardly run with them too. You are really only 4 turns of movement away from their deployment. No reason why they can't make it there.

Thanks Balsak your advice is always sound and backed with examples.
I was thinking of using DS or Kommandos, because in my last game my oppenent dropped Dreadnaughts behind my Gun Line and wrekked my them. I thought it might be useful to do to others.
Do the artillery pieces count for units when calculating 25% casualties for moral.
Last game I added mini Meks to my Gunz and an extra Getchin per Gun. Even in melee I got lucky and passed 2 moral checks. I think that is why they added the Meks.

If I notice they have DP Dreads I try not to give them room to drop down in my back fields.
We don't have the staying power to do so. Like marines do. Kommandos are a nice choice in theory to do so, but really lack in principle.
I would think they do even though its weird to think they do. All it says in rules is if you lose 25% casulaties, which are models.
Yes adding mini Meks can help with LD tests. Not by much but they do help. Not to mention can fix them as well. If they got into CC with your Mek guns that is a bad thing. How did they pull that off?

I had left the corner open on a Vanguard mission and my opponent rolled 2 hits on his DP and Dreadnaughts templated my Loota squad down to 2 and then assualted my Mek Gunz in the next round.
My Boyz couldn't get back there in time to stop them. I killed them, but it was a round to late.

I'm still trying to find the right mix of Pain Boyz to Boyz.
I really like the SAG, but three units with FnP seems like it would be a better use of points.
I don't know what will give me the best milage.

I think you are right with the three units of boys with FNP being better use of points. Like I said I have never had luck with the SAG. So don't see it as being a viable option at all.

Honestly I think its a great list. The Bikes are going to be target number one for everyone. So I hope you can roll some saves and FNP. Just remember Jink. That can save your butt.
I would like to see a couple of Ammo grunts on those Traktor kannons still. But with 4 you should hit with 2 most of the time.
Bshootas could be useful, but not game changing. I am sure you will be running with the boys anyways? Or do you plan on shooting it out? If you are going to shoot it out, I do suggest BShootas for your squads.
Honestly looks good though.

That is my one fear. I'm worried that the Bikers will just be shot to death and never do anything. I'm worries that they will be a giant point sink.
I was thinking that Ammo might be better than extra Gretchin.
I like to march my Boyz into cover and camp on objectives. They are way tougher than out in the open. Unless the enemy is fully defending, then I'm going Balls Out. They wrack up VP and become Ard for free.

If you fear they will die then why take them. At least without some more support. What about buggies to shield them from some things. They are relatively cheap. I honestly don't know at this point. Its totally not my style of army.
Ammo runts can't take hits. So you need the grots to soak wounds.
honestly camping Orks is such a bad thing to do. They should keep pressing the attack. Whether it be from shooting or getting up there to assault. I don't even like camping grots.
Between your lootas and the Mek Guns that is enough units to camp. Try to get one or two objectives close to them.
Could try KFF Mek on bike instead of the Painboy. Its a bit more but at least you will always get the 5++ save. Or you can jink every turn and get a 3+ cover. You do know that you don't have to turbo boost to jink now, right?

I've grown found of Lobbas in squads personally. Add an ammo runt or two And theyre superior to thunder fire cannons.
Regarding camping... Yes your list is reeeeally good at defending your backfield and blasting away at fliers but only one threat to their backfield (bikers) which iirc is purchased at a point premium. You start the game saying to your opponent that you are playing on your side of the board. My $.02.

@Balsak I thought you have said that you love to play shooty Orks.
So to make them faster I see a few options.
1. Grots for troops and run Storm Boyz.
2. Break up my hordes, dump the Pain Boyz and run Trukkers.
I only have 1 real problem with that. When I bought into Orks I bought 100 Boyz.

I do but I am not static with my shooting. I keep moving with Boys, Kans and Dreads. The only unit I don't move is Lootas. There is no reason to camp in this edition especially. Not knowing which objective you are going to draw next. You kind of need to keep moving and not camping. At lest IMHO.

Something along this line could help. I am not a fan of trukk but you need some support for the bikers. If they shoot at the trukk they are not shooting at the bikers, if they are shooting at the bikers they aren't shooting at the trukks. You could do shootas in the trukks as well. Its up to you. 20 Shootas with FNp should be good enough with them having to deal with trukks and bikers with boss and painboy. Not sure points you will have to figure that out. But that is something I think you could run and be happy with. Hope this helps.

By experience with the new codex. Go minimal on boyz(like two units of 12 with a trukk that you hide and hunt for objectives with)
stack stormboyz maximum unit size as well as a full unit of bikers with a biker pain boy.
Add to that 3 units of 3 mega nobz with trukks.
7th editin + new codex is the death of the boyz. I tried with heavy armor, kff, painboy(in all combination and in groups of 3 units minimum and they get decimated before doing anything meaningfull.
The only thing that works with the new orks are fast and the furious, in your face, lists....
.... Based on personal experience.

If I had it to do all over again (knew how cheap Storm Boyz were going to be) I would have bought tons of Storm Boyz and used them as my Primary "Troop". Instead my Boyz will be Footing it.
New plan: Drop 1 Gretchin and Pain Boyz on foot. Add 1 squad of Shootas. Adjust Shoota Squads to be even.
That gives me:
Warboss, PK, BP, Stikk, Bike
Pain Boy, Bike
15 Bikers, Nob, PK
28 Shootas, Nob, PK, BP
28 Shootas, Nob, PK, BP
28 Shootas, Nob, PK, BP
10 Gretchin, RH, SH
10 Lootas
10 Lootas
3 KMK, 6 Gretchin
3 KMK, 6 Getchin
4 Traktor, 8 Gretchin,
Total: 1848
I have cut almost every option in order to maximize bodies.
I could cut 3 Orks and add 7 Gretchin. Not sure if that is better or not. Or if there is something my list needs.
I know it will be slow, but I'm thinking my numbers will make up for that.

Would breaking up a squad or 2 of Boys into Trukks be a good move?
Automatically Appended Next Post: I can trade:
84 Shoota Boyz, 3 Nobs, 3 PK, 3 BP.
For:
5 Trukk Squads.
12 Slugga Boyz, Nob, PK, BP, Trukk, R Ram.
60 Slugga Boyz, 5 Nobs, 5 PK, 5 BP, 5 Trukks, 5 R Rams
15 Points Left Over.
So I trade 24 Boyz, all my Shootas for 2 Nobs and 5 Trukks.
It sounds like a decent deal, but in my experience small squads get hosed in Melee (although I only tried it twice).
Advice on how to use them or any thoughts in general?
::KRUMP:: Fasta is moar Fightin! Automatically Appended Next Post: Next option:
