Subject: Ork Twin Linked Rokkit Launcher, 2 Rokkits enough?

G;day all, I'm scratch building me a war buggy. I want to give it a TL Rokkit Launcher. In the interest of trying to keep it WYSIWYG... how many Rokkits should it have? I personally think 3 looks the coolest, as it gives me a nice sized rokkit rack, 4 doesn't really look all that good as it ends up too big and draws the eye away from the rest of the vehicle (which I have spent far too long building!!), 2 looks fine. So would 3 be fine? Maybe go with 2 to avoid confusion? Or would that still be confusing? I'm not really sure what the convention is with TL Rokkit Launchers. Here's a WIP of the buggy:

There is no such thing as 'enough dakka'!
Seriously, though, two or three would be fine. As far as I know, the only rokkit-based gun a buggy can have is the TL one, so there wouldn't be any confusion.

As long as you have at least 2 it would be fine.
Nice Buggy BTW

Either rockets in any number more than one - or any type of contraption that could pass as a rocket launcher if you are short on rockets to strap on.

I'm scratch building the rokkits from plasticard and greenstuff because I don't actually have any (I would like some of the small rokkits like the ones the MANZ have, but I'm not buying a box of MANZ just for the rokkits, lol).

You could try some bits sellers? I suppose that's kind of stating the obvious though.. Don't mind me. >_>

Yeah true I could. I'm undecided if I want to build more buggies or just leave it. If I build more, I'll definitely be hitting up bitz sellers for wheels and drivers as well. Converting the driver from a regular plastic Ork is a pain in the arse, I've spent almost as much time on the driver as I have on the rest of the entire vehicle, lol.

Yeah I'll have a few rivets on the front panel and side panels. Most if it is a frame chassis though, so it would be welded rather than riveted.
I'm not going to go too crazy with the rivets as it's going to have an evil sunz flamejob. I want it to look like something built from scrap, not something that IS scrap

Indicating that a weapon is twin-linked by having two weapon barrels (or equivalents) isn't very intuitive or logical, but it's a convention that GW themselves started. And with the exception of e.g storm bolters (which look like TL bolters but aren't), they mostly keep to that convention, so you might as well try to do the same.
As Paradigm says, there's no other sort of rokkit buggy anyway, so in this case there's little potential confusion for that individual model. But it's still a good idea to differentiate it from e.g. a non-TL rokkit on a trukk.

Yeah I was just wondering if Ork rokkits had any particular convention, for example the Gorka/Morkanaught is listed as having 2 Rokkit launchers, this is represented on the model by 4 individual rokkits, so I wondered if 2 rokkits = 1 "launcher".
But then I noticed Killa Kanz have 3 rokkits = 1 launcher, so I guess it's just random, lol.

It could even just be one really big rokkit launcher, too. The bigger the boom, the harder it is to miss with it, right?

The Ork is a little blurry, but you can make out the 3 rokiits he has in his launcha. They are made from the tips of Bic Rollerball Round Stick Pens.
I've even been able to find 10 pacs of knock offs in the local Dollar store.
I'm using them as Rokkits for all my Scratch built Tankbustas I'm working on, and I've used them on Killa Kans in the past.

Oh that's a pretty cool idea! Unfortunately I've already made them, lol. Automatically Appended Next Post: Rokkit launcher is done!
Automatically Appended Next Post: The model is pretty much done except for the engine. Not really sure what to do for the engine. It's going to a sidewinder (engine mounted next to the driver). Not sure how well I'd go scratch building an engine-looking-device, but also can't think of anything I have kicking around that could be used as an engine.
